hi,
love my max, even with small fuel tank, my 88 only runs with sw. in reserve. it isn't that big of issue but i like for everything to work on my bikes. any info will help.
thanks,
mark

i would take the switch apart and make sure its clean. Then i imagine your sending unit is bad. I bet if you talk to Sean (one2dmax) he will talk with you on a loan/exchange program to test it out.

Check the bulb (You can do that by looking at the fuel and oil light when you start the bike). If the fuel light doesn't light up during cranking then that's the problem. Otherwise it is probably a bad sending unit in the tank.

can a dead bulb break the circuit?

The way to test the fuel bulb is to put the kickstand down, put the bike in gear and let off the clutch and try the starter.

Yes a dead bulb can absolutely affect the circuit. :bang head::bang head::bang head:
Mine was like that for 2 years before I freaking figured it out.
Thanks to Mark Milne for pointing me in the right direction

Just be sure to sit on the bike and be ready to move a bit if you've never tested your sidestand or neutral switch out before! Hate to see your bike go over trying to diagnose a $0.25 bulb.
