Was at the shop getting a sticker for my gen 1 and the owner tells me that Yamaha is offering a rebate and a drop in price due to poor sales so a new gen 2 would cost just under $17, 000. Cheaper still with a trade in! So tempting!

I think it might have to do with HD dropping the muscle price down to $15K a year or 2 ago, since that's it's closest comparison.

Uh, there's a comparison between an HD & a Vmax? HD has a muscle bike?

I call Bullchit on that right there.

Yamah hurt sales by raising the price every year after it was introduced. Not sure what the rational was behind that.

It's now back to it's original list price $17,990. I ordered and bought mine new in 2008 and paid $16,500. There is room to negotiate just like on any other bike.......unless you only listen to the dealer salesman's spiel.

It was the best purchase of anything I've ever made in my life.....the fun factor is so high it's like owning my own amusement park.

Big, heavy, expensive bike. People around here are buying Diavels, Triumphs instead of the mighty Max. Those bikes are cheaper and that's what's attracting people in these parts. Also, those buyers can't get around paying 19-20 K for a Japanese bike.

I'm on my absolute tippy toes when sitting on a stock gen 2 and that's my major turnoff to buying one.

I wish they were 16000 here. The price tag on an new one here at the local dealer is 22000.00 plus taxes. There is a used 2010 at a HD dealer for 15900.00.

That's how much they are here. Add on the 1k rebate, trade in and more haggling and the bike becomes much more affordable!

Diavel is a nice bike (no Vmax) but it's not cheaper....well anymore now that the Vmax price is back to it's original list. Not sure what Triumph you are talking about....if it's the Rocket, it's heavier, doesn't brake or handle anything like a VMax and is down at least 50 - 60 HP on a Gen 2.

Or buy a used B-King for $7500 and spank the new VMAX all day long.

J/K......I would LOVE a Gen II, but won't pay anymore than 10K for a used one. I've seen them in the 12K range, sooner or later I'll be a Gen II owner! Bang for the buck, it's just not worth 16K + to me..............

You're like a broken record on that one......you've posted that about half a dozen times.

BTW anytime you want to run your Burger King against my Gen2, let me know brother I'd be happy to accommodate you.... and we'll see who will be doing the spanking. :biglaugh:

You can skip to around 3:50 in the video if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

I looked at one recently at a local dealer here in AZ I think it was an 11' ? maybe not ... however it was $18,900! When I was in Denver about 6 months ago there was one there for $22k and was shocked. When I had seen the price on the one here I was thinking to myself "it is about damn time!"

It pisses me off, these b king guys never want to run when I see them in real life. How about showing me a time slip from their last run on a stock B king . I've got my slip !

Way to come off as a dick but yeah, as far as its "class" the Vrod Muscle and/or Nightrod and Diavel are the VMax's competition.
