Hello, I have a 2004 V-Max with a Hannigan sport sidecar with about 65,000 km on. When new, the bike was fitted with a VW Beetle rear tire with one spare tire supplied.
I got about 12,000 km out of both darkside VW tires & no problems. I would like to get a more substantial darkside tire (VW tires are now from China , not Brazil) on my rear tire which takes a real pounding with the chair on & a hard right hand!
Does anyone out there have a recommendation or experience to share. Did you turn one side of the safety bead to a straight ramp to get the tire to seat more easily in the beads? The last time I tried with a Chinese VW Beetle tire it blew up on the mounting rig at 120 psi trying to get it past the safety bead with copious lubricant. Seems like the materials or dimensions are different than the Brazilian manufactured tire.
