Getting 170 rear wheel off the bike

I am trying to get a 170 80 15 wheel from the rear and no matter what I do, the width of the wheel does not slide out of the bike. I removed the rear bumber and tried to lift it but that does not help either.

Anyone here got a rear wheel off with a 170 tire, if yes, please advise how.

ok, went back to the bike. got everything for the rear tire out of the way and then you lift in a weird angle and then the wheel slides off. pooh

took a good couple of hours trying all methods

Most deflate the tire

I usually raise the caliper stay & caliper to a point where I can tilt the tire so it can be removed. Yes to deflation-remove the valve core.

I once had to loosen the 4 nuts on the final drive to angle it out of the way a tiny bit.

I get a 1" board under the center stand, It really helps.

New 170 cheap tire every year until I bought a 2nd Gen VMAX 1700 then a GL 1800 wing. Bike lift under the center of the bike, pull the axle.
