Greetings from a new V-Max owner. I just purchased my first V-Max this weekend. I am excited to get riding.

57 Year old retired Marine living in Springfield, VA. Married, 3 grown children, and 3 grand kids. I have ridden bikes most of my life, took a hiatus in 2017 for 7 back surgeries. I have owned everything from BMW, Ducati, Can-am, Suzuki, Triumphs, I have always wanted to own a VMax. I really like the iconic history of the bike.

I have these scratches or pits in my Air Intake covers, any suggestions how to make them look good without buying new ones that are over $ 300-400

Better photo, how do I get mitigate these, should I get them chromed or powder coated, or just wet sand them, on both sides

Congrats on finally landing a Vmax, Devildog. Maybe one of those grandkids will show an old Jarhead how to use a phone camera so you can post some pics of it!

Try using the search function, upper right. You will find someone on here has already asked the same thing or had the same problem you are trying to solve. Probably several people, or many people. Members who do their own work are OK w/sharing their results.

About the scoops, I use airplane stripper, and then a buffing wheel. If I paint them, it's usually with this stuff, instead of powdercoating.

I hope you don't mind me enlarging the pics. A great looking bike! I admit to being prejudiced towards a largely stock appearance.
