do they not break the wind? My hands are fine at normal speeds but doing 80 mph + for 20 mins or so cools them down.

do u see any potential problems for some sort of universal mount?

They might help at that speed. That usually isn't the speed I'm going off road!:biglaugh: It will be interesting to see how they look in the VMax. Keep us up to date.

ordered the powermadd, tri-mount and extender from a local KTM shop. should have them mid-next week. we'll see how they work.

well.....my two cents........

They look really cool on the dual purpose/adventure bikes for sure......

I'll be interested to see how they look on a Vmax as well......but i'm thinking totally black to not advertize themselves will most likely be the way to go......definately post pics when you can.......

oh yea all black. we'll see. tues/wed/thurs.

got word back from "Powermadd" from their VP. He said he has had them on his snowmobile up to 110 without any issue so i should be fine on the bike.

hah. i dont' disagree but i'm being persistent on this one. we'll see how my hands feel after the guards.

I had hand guards on my KLR650, my XTZ750 and my Aprilia Pegaso.

They do cut the wind a little bit, but do nothing to make your hands warm. And once they get cold, the hurt. A lot. Especially when you gotta reach for the clutch.

So finally I installed the heated grips on the Peg, and man what a difference - I didn't mind cold rides anymore, even lengthy ones! :worthy:

thats definitley in the cards if this doesn't help much. i think i'm really gonna like how they look.

got the guards in today! got them mounted! looked good, had a box fan going to find out where they worked the best.

got them all set and good. tightened one side down, tightened the other, BAM broke a bracket. i was tightening the bracket bolts to 5 ft lbs and the final bolt snapped the right side bracket. so i gotta wait for new ones.

anyways i took some pics with the left side on. take a gander.

when i was doing some tests with the box fan, i went and got my hands wet and then did the tests with the right side guard on and left side off. after about 2 mins my left hand was freezing and my right was perfectly fine, just a little damp.

first 3 pics are with the 'extender' on and second 3 pics are the normal guard.

should have a new bracket in next week. not a moment too soon with this weather
