Disclaimer: Yeah, it's a concept bike. Yeah, it may never hit production, and if it does, Honda probably will tease us and not bring it to the U.S.

Now, given the above, is this one gorgeous bike, or what?

i like it. its like a gen2 vmax meets a burger king meets a rocket III meets somethign with a single sided swingarm

That looks like a more advanced concept than the original I saw (see attached)...headlamp and exhaust looks to be a tad different, could just be me though.....but, been waiting to see if they are going to release it for awhile now....

And the lack of clutch lever is due to them using a version on the HFT like what the DN-01 has (see here)...I'm hoping they would rather go with one of the semi-auto trannies, like the one expected on the new VFR (See here), instead...

headlight looks the same to me, and the exhaust just looks like its missing on yours amn.

I like it! Only thing I'm not a fan of visually is the bread box muffler. Don't look good on the cbr's or on this thing.

Maybe the same Honda engineers that were responsible for bringing me this lead sled.

It rides like a cadillac, but you can hardly force it around a corner.

It gets a LOT of attention any where I go.

Isn't that the limited "rune" edition of the Valk? I've heard those were rare from the day they rolled off the dealer lot, and didn't they retail for like $25k or something?

Like a Honda version of the Boss Hoss bike....looks about as big.

I saw one of these IRL and it does look quite imposing and impressive.

I wouldn't wanna turn on one either..

Limited is a loose term....I've seen dealers online where you are still able to buy them out of the crate....can get them as low as $18k but most come in around $20k (at least the last time I look about a year or so ago)....

The Honda Rune was sort of a limited edition Valk. They produced them in 2004 and 2005. They offered them in three colors: Black (with a tiny amount of red metalic), Candy Black Cherry (mine), and Illusion Blue (my wife's). Full list price was around $27, 500, depending upon the chrome wheel package option. My local dealer wanted $24,500 cash outright for his. I walked away and never looked back. So did thousands of other potential buyers.

Years later, Mother Honda wanted that warehouse space for other new models and decided to lower the price of the leftovers by nearly 1/2. Dealers scrambled to buy them and now you can still find one or two around for around $16K. I found mine used for less. My wife was always begging to ride it to/from work, so we got her one of her own.

They weigh in up around 800lbs, I think. A big block Boss Hoss comes in around 1,500 lbs, if I remember correctly. My wife wants one, god forbid.

Again, they are a fantastic riding machine and generate much interest from the general public, but I get no satisfaction trying to push it through twisties like the Tail of the Dragon. Although putting along behind my wife gives me ample opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings, if you get my drift. Dooby, dooby, doo! I can putt putt along and never go below 4th gear and have plenty of time to smile and make awful hand gestures to all the pro photographers along the route. lol.

I've also followed die-hard Rune riders through some TN and North Carolina highways and could barely keep up with them. The Rune just doesn't have adequate ground clearance and I constantly scrape the bottom of the pegs, and/or exhaust skins on the curves - a scenerio I'm not comfy with.

The funny part is, some of those riders are convinced they have a go-fast kind of bike. Since my first love is my Max, I just shake my head when I hear one of them comment accordingly.

If you ever ride one, you will never forget the experience.

I've heard the Valk engine definetly had lots of giddy-up power and had surprising performance for a "full size" cruiser. I guess they were designed for the highway.

I have the collection of all of Daniel Meyer's books, his website is www.lifeisaroad.com He has done well over 100k miles on his Valkyrie, and the book details most of his adventures all around north America- including an entire section just on his Texas-to-Alaska run. The book is very entertaining to read and IMO well worth the price. He does all the trips solo, and swears by his Valk for reliability. Check it out, a lot of his stories are on the website.

While I'm sure the Honda Valkyrie's are darn good bikes, don't be confused between the Honda 1500cc Valkyrie and the 1832cc Rune. Two separate bikes. Both are flat 6 bangers by Honda, but that is about all they have in common.

Daniel Meyer is a frequent poster on the valkyrie.com board and is a superb writer.

Aren't all street bikes designed for the highway? :ummm:
