Ok. I am broke as I just got my vmax, splashed out a bunch on carb job and powder coating etc but really thinking about this.

A good friend of mine has a nice big dog which he rides always and has a nice Honda Shadow sitting in his garage which he never rides. I rode it last year and it rode really well. Either a 650 or 750 cannot remember. Anyway it is a 2001 with 8,000 miles on it. Has custom paint forward controls, drag bars etc. Quite a few nice upgrades.

My friend needs to sell it and told me he was thinking to try and get 2,000 for it. Seems way way low huh? I just got 2g for my 94 magna not in great condition with 40+miles on it. I am thinking of buying it and moving it on. I just dont have a garage or anywhere to keep it which sucks.

What you guys think?

I think a Magna is more sought after than the Shadow but perhaps that's just me...

I wouldn't screw with it, but that's because I hate selling things online.

My last bike was a Shadow 700. No powerhouse, but it was comfortable & dependable. I think they're descent bikes. Easier to work on than Magnas too. I say go for it.

In 2001, they didn't make a 650. It's either a Shadow VLX (a 600) or a Shadow Spirit (a 750).
The SS came stock with drag bars. Might even have ghost flames in the paint. That was a factory option. I had an '02 with red flames that got totaled.
They are good bikes, and they run forever. Just like with the Max, the mod opportunities are endless....as you can see in the pictures.
As long as that one is in good shape, you might be able to get as much as $3K out of it. But a lot of that is dependent on what accessories it has, mods, etc.
I've owned 3 shadows in the past, so I know a bit about them. I'd say post pics of it.

yeh I guess it would be an ss then. I assumed the previous owner had put on the drag bars and flames so guess it is not custom. I may see it tonight so if I do ill take some pics.

That's a fabulous deal...I'd say go for it. It will feel like a minibike performance wise compared to the Max but it's a nice little cruiser.

I was under the impression Magnas were valuable and sought after, but I absolutely cannot sell my 85 VF500 for anything near what it's worth. I was looking to get $1500 out of it. Runs like new, looks great, needs nothing. Ran 3 times on ebay with no bids, nothing from wantads or craigslist.

Anybody here want a nice "baby" Magna? It's very quick for a 500 and beats 1100V-twins off the line and up to about 50-60. It'll do about 110 if you let it wind out. I'll let it go for $1300.
