Hi.
Sorry for asking this silly question ; can someone point me in the right direction when it comes to removing the old mufflers to replace it with a supertrapp slip-on. I cannot seem to figure out which bolts I need to remove to be able to rempove the original. :ummm: Should be very simple but I don't understand. Maybe someone can show some pictures of witch one to remove ?
Or maybe there is a "how to guide" somewhere ?

Bolts by the passenger footpegs
Four tube clamps
One bolt in the collector area

Once everything is loose its still a bit rough getting them off. You gotta wiggle up and down and pull at the same time. Put something under the bike to break the fall once they come off. They are heavy and once they pop off you don't want to drop them.

See the attached pdf for bolt locations

I tied a nylon strap around each can going up over the seat. That gave me a little play to wiggle them but tight enough to hold them up after they come loose. Like Mike said....they're heavier than hell!!

If you have removed the bolts by the footpegs and the 4 clamp bolts on each pipe...and it's still real tight....you may have forgotten the center bolt. It's hard to see and without removing it the system ain't comin' off!

I'm in a pickle.I took off my stock exhaust, now I can not reinstall them. It's still over 100 degrees here and I'm dying. If i don't die from sweating to death, my fiancee will finish me when she gets home. Is there a trick to putting them back on? AACKKK!

Yes, I've done it a few times alone. Get some good wire ties and wire tie the footpeg bolts to the exhaust, you can do one side at a time. Dont crank the wire ties as you want some slack to wiggle the exhaust. This will hold the exssesive weight of the piggy stock exhaust while you focus on getting the 4 inlets aligned. Once aligned, push and wiggle untill your satisfied its in as far as it will go (the footpeg bolts should now be aligned with the exhaust), clip the wire tires and bolt up, one side at a time. Relish in what others call impossible with one person.

I found out the hard way how to do it myself. Now that I know the next time should be much easier. Try my link to replacing the exhaust. I am not a pro mechanic but this hard-earned info worked for me.

Didn't have any wire ties to hang the exhaust, but I've got tons of paracord, so handy to have! LOL. The biggest problem I ran into was not having a centerstand. I usually used a car jack on the mounts where the centerstand was, but it was getting in the way of the big stupid resonator box that joins the stock mufflers. I lowered it onto a cinder block, but then the pipes moved up just enough that I couldn't get the pipes to line up. I did notice that the mounts for the footpegs are ever so slighlty away from the frame and lowered the bike onto 2 blocks, 1 on each side. Much sweat and wiggling later they slipped on. Thank you guys for the help, it IS possible to get those beastly stock cans on solo.

Definitely put it on the center stand if possible. It was hard to do on my bike because front and rear lower 1 inch. Center stand will hang up the exhaust if not.

Sonoran6,

Thanks...they are powder coated...if you need something done let me know...I do it as a hobby so don't expect absolute perfection...although I'm tough on myself so they will be pretty close to perfect...:)
