Hello folks
I am looking for help identifying my late friends Vmax from a photo of his. He passed away two years ago and I hope to be able to make a project to eventually (slowly) recreate this in memory of him. He absolutely adored his bike, unfortunately I can remember next to nothing about it. ANY help or information I can gain would be incredibly helpful. Thank you in advance.

Are you just wanting a list of all the modifications that were done (which are many)? I don't know that i've seen the bike before but recognize many of the parts.

To be honest I'm not even entirely sure of the year or engine size. Like I said, this is going to be a "very" long-term project, so any additional info including any body modifications you notice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking to be a sink on anyone's time though so if this request is to much, i entirely understand. Thanks

With the USD fork, custom wheels, aftermarket carbs, that right-there, is > a decent stock bike cost. Where are you located?

It would be a lot-easier and less-expensive, to re-do a stock bike in the same color scheme. Was he a short fellow? That seat looks like it's lower than stock.

Impossible to know the year from that photo. You'd need a VIN to know that.
Custom paint so who knows what color.
My GUESSES on Mods
Looks like Cycle One Off triple trees
2004-2006 R1 forks, calipers, rotors, and chromed/polished wheel
UFO VGAS carb
UFO seat
Old style UFO exhaust
Progressive shocks
HAC sissybar and rack (Available from exactrep)
Exactrep shorty rear fender
Exactrep fuel tank
Exactrep 4-1/2" twin bates headlights
Exactrep Twin Headlight cowl/infill
Exactrep Night Fighter belly pan
Kuryakyn grips
? Dirt bike handle bars. Not sure which type
? Bar ends
? Signals

Rear Wheel I think is an old Ego Tripp Wheel (no longer made)
Rear Shocks are Progressive 418's
I think the Exhaust is actually an older HMF system
I think HEL braided Lines
86-07 Rear pegs so not an 85 unless they were changed. 85-86 Colors on the Valve Covers (though the later 96-up also had black accented covers). The Front Pegs have been changed.
The grips are Kury ISO versions w/throttle rests (ends)
Switch Housings and Masters stripped and polished
Bent as hell kickstand
I'm not sure if they are COO triples. The clamping areas don't look right. I think Exactrep sells an inverted set too.
Wide Feel Levers that I think Exactrep used to sell.
Plus the other parts already mentioned and plenty of polished and chromed stuff.

Will need the VIN number to determine the year of the bike.
The engine started life as a 1200cc but there's a good chance some engine work was done on it. There might be some letter/number stampings below one or the other of the rear cylinders. If so will need them also.

Question...Are you recreating from scratch or rebuilding this bike? If you're starting from scratch is there any possibility of locating and buying this bike? Probly save yourself several thousand dollars.
