Over the weekend my rear right carb went rich as hell on me.

I do have spark to that cylinder.

No adjustment to the a/f screw has any effect. i.e. 1/4 turn out still rich.

The slide is sliding.

It idles and revs good, but under a load it starts fouling at about 2500rpms up to 3500 rpms.

I can still get the rpm's up to 9500, I rode it to work today and had it up to 90mph, with avaliable power to spare in the lower gears.

I gave it a good "Pea Shooter" but to no improvement resulted.

Suggestions for repair would be greatly appreciated. That means you Shawn & Mark. :whistlin:

Thank you,

Just my $0.02 here:
Sounds like stuck open needle and seat valve in the float bowl. If you know which carb it is you might see fuel comming out the overflow tube. Give the bowl a coulple of hard raps with the plastic end of a screw driver for a possible fix. Fuel system cleaner at each oil change and check the fuel filter.
Good luck,
Lew

No fuel coming out of the overflow tube.
I have tapped the hell out of the bowl and went for a spirited ride, no change.
Fuel filter, checks out.
Drained the bowl twice, and no change.

I am just hoping for some cure before I have to pull the assembly and go pokin' around in the float, and do some shotgunnin'.

Thanks for the input LEW.

Shad,I am starting to think that maybe you should have the medicine man bless your very evil bike.

What's the float level to that carb? Is the choke plunger all the way closed?

Well.....problem solved!!!!!!!

If you've been with me through my repairs you'll know I had to buy a whole different racked carb assembly. (from New York)

Well turns out it had a few missing parts, 4 to be exact.

I had shimmed and set the clips at 2.5 cause that's where it run best.

What I didn't realize was the 4 washers that keep the needles from sliding up into the springs (of the inner assemblys) in the diaphrams were missing!

So I have been lucky to have them not slide up into hella "rich" territory till now.

I put up a little picture of where the missing washers were.

Thanks for all of the input, I got lucky with this fix.

Shawn,

Do you know any medicine men that can bless this War Pony?
She's got the voodoo in her!!! :angry flame devil:

You guys man! You're our medicine men:

The primary function of these "medicine elders" (who are not always male) is to secure the help of the spirit world, including the Great Spirit, for the benefit of the community.

Sometimes the help sought can be for the sake of healing, sometimes the goal is to promote harmony between human groups or between humans and nature.

To be recognized as the one who performs this function of bridging between the natural world and the spiritual world for the benefit of the community,
an individual must be validated in his role by that community.
Most medicine men and women study their art through a medicine society.i.e. (vmaxforum.net)

They had a bike blessing ride here at one of the church's but I didn't go.Don't like putting around with 500 harleys.

During the Rally I had 2 cylinders fouled so bad it was like I was on a Harley! :stickyman:

What do you guys think of the Hyosung, UM GV250 (Cruise V2C 250T)?

My girl wants a bike and I been looking for a good beginner for her.

I can get it brand new for $3,200 with a 3 year warrranty.

Or should I get her an older Rebel 250, or Virago and have to work on it myself.

And..........

When I fixed the slides I noticed the carb on my bike still had the stock springs, and my FUBAR carb had the stage I shorter springs.

HMF "2D9S" full exhaust, UNI filter

Are the stage I springs crappy and will only F things up?
Or can I run them and get a bit more throttle response over stock springs?
Will I have to re tune my needles?

Bump for answer?

I would run the stock springs unless you drill the slides too....those two things generally work together.

I don't know the size of the stock holes, or of the Stage I drilled holes.
I suspect that both sets are drilled cause there is some chipping on the exterior surface of the holes on all 8 slides.

Anybody know the pre, and post hole sizes of the slides?
