Intake valve carbon

While breaking down my bike in preparation of the arrival of Sean's shim kit I noticed some carbon buildup on the back side of my intake valves. What would be the cause of this (running rich) and the solution to clean them up without complete tear down?

That's normal. Run some BG 44K through and it'll clear up. I split the can into two doses and put each dose in before filling the tank up.

sounds like a plan.. kind of Ironic. I was just looking at some flyers for this product while waiting for the local chevy dealer to give me some feedback on why my airbag service light was on in my silverado.
