More than a few times a day while I am looking through the forums and decide to head back to the main page. I head up to the tree view to click on the main page (VMaxForum.net), accidentally over shoot and click in the empty gray area above.

That brings me right to Morley's site. Never Ricor, or any of the other vendors, just Sean's little corner of the internet.

Coincidence? Subliminal messages? The mod monkey whispering in my ear?

Then I start feeling those "urges" and start to think "I could justify a 1500cc long rod conversion"

............must....resist the monkey.....must.....resist......the monkey.........must.....resist...............must.....resist............................................................

Mod Monkey syndrome is a well reported, yet poorly understood condition that is very common to Vmax owners. It's severity varies from person to person, and often depends on the victim's bank account, bike condition, and personal preference. When a "mod flash" hits, the owner has a nearly uncontrollable urge to spend money on their Vmax, with often devastating effects on their checkbook. The disease often progresses from mild, to moderate, to severe given enough time without adequate treatment

For victims with only mild MM syndrome, simple mods can suppress "mod flashes", such as LED backlighting in the gauges or an aftermarket tail light. These people still closely resemble "normal" motorcycle riders, and can often still blend in to popular biker culture.

Moderate sufferers will find themselves buying entire exhaust systems, R1 brake conversions, frame braces, or a Venture drive conversion. These people have bikes that stand out more than mild victims, and can be members of the 120+ club. Their bikes often get a lot of attention, and the owner's MM syndrome can become worse because of it. These people may still have "normal" friends, but will never really fit in because everyone is jealous of their bike.

Persons with a severe case may initially try to control the condition themselves, by adding NOS or switching to radial tires. However, these attempts ultimately fail and they seek the assistance of Dr. Morley for intensive treatments, including 1500cc engines. In particularly extreme cases, only turbo kits can ease the urges. Severely afflicted persons are all but completely alienated from biker culture, preferring track days, endless hours in the dyno room, and bike shows. When not racing or testing their bike, they dedicate their time to helping other MM syndrome sufferers cope with their condition.

Mod flashes are not fully understood by modern riders, but evidence suggests they may be caused by:
-Promotion at a job
-Tax Refund check arriving (aka "Obamabucks Syndrome")
-Racing somebody with a 1500cc Vmax (and losing)
-Realization that 110rwhp just isn't enough
-Seeing another Vmax that looks a lot like yours

Even the best motorcycle doctors (mDr's) are in debate as to the psychology behind MMS. Some argue that it is a sign of insanity, since the Vmax is stock one of the sickest bikes out there, and will outperform even heavily modified bikes of other models. Others propose that because the Vmax is such an animal straight out of the box, it attracts the "extreme" demographic that will modify whatever they ride, and go right to the top of the pile.

However, mDr's unanimously agree that extended exposure to VMF.net radiation is one of the leading causes of MMS. Unfortunately, VMF.net users quickly develop a strong physical and mental addition to this radiation, further progressing the disease.

LOL, it's the magnets we installed into the banner. Makes your finger move there.

Clicking there will take you to the home page of whatever banner is showing.

I, for one, am glad that meaningful research is finally being done on the rare and elusive condition known as MMS. The better we understand this affliction the more we can manipulate it to our advantage! :clapping:

I think it's all hooey, there is no mod monkey! I just have a sincere desire to make my Vmax all it can be. I just choose to use all my extra money, ok so not all of it's really "extra", to help this poor thing. I mean when it speaks to you in a heartfelt but yet as a strong willed individual I understand it's plight. It rewards me with a intoxicating sound, with a deep primal drive that invigorates my soul, how can I do anything but give it my best effort to preserve, nay, improve it's pedigee.
OH hell, OK so there is a MM, as a matter of fact he's sitting on my desk, just smiling. He saw the email form UPS which means he will be fed! I am so addicted!:punk:

Sob! That's one helluva write up RAWARRIOR. We all know that Vmax is different and sometimes called fugly by many. People going against the grain is what keeps world culture going imo. Everytime I ride my Vmax or Super Magna the heads turn. And believe it or not, its the younger generation people asking what the hell is that sweet machine or giving the thumbs up. Not the ******* pop culture so called American bikers.

I managed to dodge the worst of MMS by buying my Vmax from a moderate to severely afflicted previous owner, who already did 90% of the mods I was thinking of doing.

With my Obamabucks I got a slight mod flash, briefly seeing the mod monkey:

However he was easily placated by ordering some red LED's to put in my gauges.

Bring your MM to the 2010 Brownie Run and he will be re invigorated, 'cause once he gets a look at Bill's Vmax...:punk:

You know how those bastards operate....right? You bring your MM to BR10, he sneaks away and takes a little 'monkey dump' near an 'uninfected' bike, out of which come MM embryos about the size of the detent ball on the drain cock assembly!

These MM embryos, or 'membryos' as we call them in the lab, then hide somewhere on the uninfected bike...(usually in the instrument cluster where it's nearly impossible to detect them)...there they grow into full-fledged Mod Monkeys.

Oddly enough, this growth process takes exactly the same length of time as your ride back home!! So when you pull in your driveway, after a great weekend of 'Brownie Running,' out pops a full grown MM, who will be with you forever!

You can just imagine the confusion that insues if you are unlucky enough to pick up 4 or 5 membryos....eh? Your wife comes out to say hi to you and all those miserable ******' primates are popping out all over the place....it's a total disaster, I tell ya!!

But something we must deal with!! :punk:

dan you really think we can manipulate the MM, i think thats part of his game, making us think we have the addiction under control, then all of a sudden your searching for frame braces again. I thought after the first round of infection and making it thru, it would be over but no, its mutated and seems there is no cure just a drug to slow it down. Think its like winter hibernation :ummm: then back stronger then ever.

You're right Ro, there are countless stories of Monkey manipulation attempts that have run amuck!! The real truth is....

"You cannot petition the Monkey!!" :punk:

the monkey embryo was put on my bike by bill. it was about the time we were talking about exhausts and he mentioned he had some 17" walker cans. i was busy listening and the monkey was busy infecting.

okay explain this to me than. My bike was not around many other bikes and I know up until recently it was not around any other Max's. I have had the MM infection for some time now, and I am curious how I was infected?
Is it an infection from another brand? Airbourne?

You almost got it there Kevin!! It's Mailbourne!!

Like e-mail and PM....who'd a thunk it....eh? :biglaugh:

just talking/writing to guys here, they have learned to infect via computer virus.....:teeth angry:

wonder how many hits to Sean's website has happened since this thread started lol I've done it too :)

I have been on his site 2 time today myself, Cycle one-off also, and Ebay! The monkey is on me about some ... frame sliders ... blinkers ... mirrors ...

It's not just you. I noticed the other day when I log on, then don't touch anything. the coursor floats up to the vendor section, no matter what ad is up and automatically clicks on it.

Then this lil sumbitch opens up the closet door then says "You not done yet!!!"
