Hi guys, need advice from vmax gurus here.

One of the suggestion in fixing the hotstart or low voltage problem from this post
http://vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=19108
is to connect the R/R positive directly to battery with a new bigger cable.

But when I was reading the service manual (PDF) from VMO
http://www.vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/VMX12-Service-Manual.pdf on page 7-21 (p.324)
there is a Caution to avoid direct connection to the battery.

So what you do guys think? Is it safe or not? (Especially for older type R/R with no fins) Should we do it? Or, can it be made safe somehow?

Thanks
Regards,

Mine is direct to battery ( + and - ) via a piggyback wire and I'm having no issues at all. over 13v at idle and a little over 14 at 1500 R's. For some safety add a fuse.

Thank you for the answers...

It's just that the manual caution to avoid connecting R/R directly without explaining Why ...

Regards,

I did connected the R/R to the battery years ago, never had an issue.
I don't remember if I did put a 30-40A fuse in between, but I think so.

It in some cases will give a voltage increase to keep the battery charged better. Did it on my 94 and gained 1/2 a volt.

If all you're having is a 'hot start' issue, why not just fix your starter and get it over with? Sounds like it needs to be done.

what do you mean? that hot start fix posting doesnt mention anything about fixing the starter. I thought it's all about wiring.
