Ok just got another set of SS super trapp slip ons , they came off of a 2005 model. Along with the trapps, he gave me the mains that h=the shop took out. They are 170, that is the size that his local yamaha shop installed to run with the slipons. He was only running 7 discs? I am confused, Will I need to rejet if I go to 10-14 disacs per side?

I have a k/n air filter, stock box a/f screw 3.5 out Super trapps disc count unknown at this time.


I want the best bang for my buck here guys
 
Are thy dynojet 170's? 170 is pretty big and the trend is to go smaller with the slip-ons.

When I ran the trapps with 12 discs per side and a K&N in the stock airbox, the only thing I did was adjust the a/f's (I think it was between 3 and 3.5 out, I can't really remember at the moment), shimmed the "Y" on the airbox lid about 1/8-1/4" and changed the main jets to a mikuni 145.7. I got some great gas mileage and the engine was nice and crispy.

Generally, you don't have to do anything with slip-ons. They're pretty much plug and play, but I like to tinker a bit.
