Hi guys. I am new to the forum and also to Vmaxes. I recently purchased a like new 85 all stock. I installed Cobra 4 into 4 and K & N filter. I plan to remove the "y" also. Does anyone have a recommendation of the main jet size I should try first. I am at approximately 1000 feet elevation. Thanks for any help I receive.

Cobras are more restrictive than stock and tend to run pretty rich with stock jetting. I recommend putting Mikuni 147.5 main jets in to replace the stock 152.5's. Make sure you float levels are on the lean side, preferably all 17 mm. Adjust your mixture screws, one at a time and they sync your carbs.

Leave your "Y" on for now and see how it runs. Removing it will lean you out but you lose some air velocity and that'll hurt a bit of your midrange torque.
