I got allot of great tips, ideas and tech info from this site. I just want to to take a minute and thank everyone for all the help. I finally finished up with my 1st round of Mods & got her out for a 100 mile + shakedown ride . I am very happy with the huge difference in handling (special thanks to Morley's Muscle "How to" video on installing the Progressive Springs). I love the new brake lines, way more positive feel and the clutch is working great.

Thanks again Guys, I'll be seeking some more advice when I get the $ saved up for the next round of Mods.

Bike is looking great Chief . I hope you have some restraint regarding the infamous " Mod Monkey " , as he and his siblings will definately take you for a ride if you let 'em . ( if not , bring $ $ $ ) LOL

Lookin' good Gunny! I like the red accents you've done, perhaps painting the "yamaha" logo on the scoops might even set it off even more!

Thanks for the positive remarks to all. I was thinking that too, I figured I can break out painters tape and use an exacto knife to prep the letters.

Not sure on what primer (if needed) but maybe a good quality enamal should work if i rattle can the letters red. The red I used on the radiator and scoops was a high heat engine enamal and it's been holding up well.

If you decide to do it, I used a bottle of Duplicolor touch up paint that I picked up at my local Autozone store. It comes with a fingernail style brush built into the cap, which was perfect sized for painting in the letters. No taping or worrying about overspray! EDIT: Decals would work even better! Take him up on it, or I WILL!!!!!

I painted the lettering on a set of scoops and used the painters tape and I must say they came out good. It's pain in the a$$ but use a new blade for each scoop because it dulls the point of the knife quick......Great looking bike you have bud.

Thanks for the offer Yankee in Texas....Should've put this in the "What did you do to your Vmax today thread but thought it should go here; I did the duplicolor brush thing 06MAXIMUS suggested and my new mirrors came in so I threw them on too (Arlen Ness Black flame Mirrors on I bought at JP cycles).

I am Really liking the red letters and the black mirrors!

My neighbor rides a Road King....he said it was sacrilige to put Arlen Ness parts on a Rice burner, I told him if he takes out his Mitsuba wiring harness and NGK plugs I'll take my mirrors off...he laughed and said "ok, you got me there" LOL

Very nice! I like it so much that now I want to paint my scoop screens like yours....what did you use to do them?

I took them off of the scoops. Be carefull ...the tabs are delicate, use a scibe / carb tool with a bend in it to pull them away enough so they will come out of the clip holes. Then I wiped them down with Acetone (it will etch them so the primer and finish will stick well) and I hung them with yellow stake string and hooks and did the "Rattle can" job on them.

I primed them with gray engine high heat primer, then I used a can of Red Rust-Oleum Engine enamel ...Gotta love Autozone, they give me a 10% Military (Retired) discount on top of whatever I get back on the rewards card...:punk: I gave up on Kragen / O'Riley...they suck! But Oil & Filters are still cheaper at Wally World....LOL
