Keychain scratch the scoops

Hey i have tried several different keychains and have not found any that dont scratch the scoop. This is just an IDEA and i dont have a clue as who or where you can get them made but would the owners of the forum be interested in maybe coming up with a vmax custom keychain design and selling them to all the members here. Like i said it just an Idea and a way to promote the forum.JIM:biglaugh:

I have a rubber motorcycle shaped one that the dealer gave me......

Out of the mouth of babes. I was at a friend of mine's shop today. While having a beer and bench racing, we brought up pains in the *****. Mine was the keychain scratches on the scoops. I told him that once the double fighter scoops come in and get painted I wasn't going to be too happy to have them scratched up.

Then his 7-year-old son spoke up. "Just put the same clear stuff you and dad have on the air scoops under your bikes." There it is. The clear fil is damn near invisible and deflects rocks like theres no tomorrow so why not a little 4"x6" piece protect from keychains. :clapping:

Anyhoo, I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens this summer.

Good idea. What are you thinking about? I made my own tuning fork design keychain out of 2 gel type stick ons. Scratchless, small, sweet & cheap.

Id like to see it club related and a circle maybe with vmax forum on the circle. Hell i dont know, How about any of you guys got some artist skills come up with something cool. JIM

Something else to add to the formula....I never had a keychain just because of the scratching and my scoops were pristine. Notice I say WERE, until I took the bike in for a carb sync (before I got my metric wrenchs :biglaugh and the ***** at the shop put one of those key tags used car dealers use on before he 'road tested' the bike!

I now have small marks on the right scoop!! :damn angry:

I know, I know....if the sync tool rods line up there's no need to road test....I know!! I got metric toolage shortly thereafter!!unk:

wish everything was just sae sizes, hate metric stuff but guess we gotta live with it. Now they are making rod and main bearings for cars in mexico that are metric sizes but called std or .010 etc and not exact dimensions, gotta get made in the usa for that stuff or priced hot rod motor might end up in peices.

i bought a plastic one for this exact reason. if i notice any scratches i just wont use it.

I have a small, soft leather type one - doesn't scratch the scoops at all.

I picked up a American flag rubber keychain from a casino promotion and it works great! I'd be in for a couple VMF keychains and far as a design we could look no further than the skull and crossbones one from the tshirts!

i just don't run a keychain. just a metal loop that doesn't hit anything. i'd hate having all that **** scratched up!

I have one of those flat rubber keychains like you get from the dealer.

When I put the key in the ignition, I tuck the FOB portion of the keychain between the instrument cluster and the frame. Nothing but rubber touches any part of the bike. No scratches and nothing flapping around in the breeze.

All I did was take a thick clear piece of tape like a laminate and used a half circle shape from a quart paint can into a "D" and stuck it on the top of the scoop by the key. It gets scratched up but lasts about two years.
