i was wondering if anyone knows why there is a "knockout" on the back top half of the left hand switch gear. reason i ask is i recently bought a set of chromed switch housings off e-bay. i got them the other day and as i was installing them i noticed that there was an extra square hole on the backside. looks like an additional switch could be added, but for what? i looked at the one i removed and you can see where you could remove the piece if you wanted to. i looked on the inside of the housing and there is a threaded hole where a switch could be attached. any ideas on where to get the switch the hole was designed for? if i cant plug it that way, i'll have to get the top half of another housing and have it chromed and put it on instead.

I'm not near my bike, can you post a picture of this. I'm trying to picture where it is on the switch. I would imagine though that the switch gear is from the Yammy parts bin and is on a few different bikes. Any one know what other bikes carry this?

found out from the one positive source (sean morley) that the part i was sent as a chromed replacement for the v max actually comes from a late model venture. i think i'm gonna find a stock top half on e bay and have it chromed. i'll also be on the lookout for a dummy switch to plug the hole. sean sent some pics

this is what you will receive if you buy from the guy in germany. he will not take paypal from international bidders and will only accept a bank transfer. i didnt realize until i got my bank statement that it was $55.00 to convert to euros and wire the money, on top of the $30.00 for shipping and the $43.00 bid. best bet is to just send yours out over he winter!

I have a chrome left-hand switchgear like the one you talk about on my spare bike, and I'm pretty sure it's off a Venture. Underneath it has threaded holes where the choke cable mechanism is attached. That's because the Venture had its choke control on the bars, rather than on the carbs as the Max does. On my spare bike, the Vboost servo had been removed, and the choke cable was attached to the Vboost valve, so it had 'manual boost' (!?!) It also had what looked like Stage 7 with individual K&N pod filters, so who knows, maybe it helped..

To come back to your original question, if I got what you said right, it makes complete sense to me: in all European countries, there is an additional switch on all bikes - it's the lights On/Off switch. Usually a 3-way, Off, Parking Lights, Driving Lights.
Of course here in the USA it is redudant, as all motorcycles are required by law to have their driving lights on at all times.

looks like some of the ventures had some sort of communication system on them. its a PTT button (push to talk). if i can find a replacement switch, i may try to use it for my manual fan switch location!
