Any fans out there?
Just ran across this = L&M's "Midnight Special" appearance, from 1973.
Six songs, several from one of my favorite albums - Full Sail, including the Reggae-inspired Coming to You. Just one of those tunes that gives you a peaceful, easy feeling.
p.s. - they sure wore funny clothes, back then.
Cheers!

Great stories in their songs, easy to understand, melodies that stay w/you. Didn't they do "Don't Let Me Catch You Staying in a Holiday Hotel?" Don Kirshner did the Midnight Specials I think. Back then it was like early SNL, if you weren't out partying, you had to watch to see the featured band.

Every generation has there interpretation of what constitutes "good music"-
Nowadays, it seems it doesn't matter that the artists are not performing something they wrote themselves, or that they are actually playing the music live (versus sound bites) or that they are actually singing (versus lip syncing)
GIVE ME THE COMPOSER/ MUSICIAN/PERFORMER ANYTIME!

This is TRUE talent! People such as Jim Messina, John Denver, Warren Zevon, John Fogerty, James Taylor, Prince, Carol King, come to mind. Many more, too numerous to mention. Feel free to add your favorites!

Lennon and Mccartney, Jagger and Richards, Ray Davies, Boyce and Hart.................I dig the old stuff........Especially the obscure garage rock of the 60s...........Tom.

Yea, that some of my music right there.....I tell my grand daughter they will probably still be playing Beetle tunes a hundred years from now. If you can't hum to it, it's not music.

Monsters of Folk, My Morning Jacket, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Slayer, KMFDM, Fatboy Slim, Grand Funk Railroad, Doobie Bros, Bach, Danzig and surprisingly enough Marlyn Manson. Believe it or not, one of Mansons albums gets me in the Christmas decorating mood, lol. Im just an odd one that likes everything but country, but what ive listed are my favorites.

For vocalists, I like Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, Eric Burdon, Mick Jagger, Ray Davies, George Clinton, Townes Van Zandt, and all four of the Liverpool moptops.

Guess that makes me old...

Bob Dyan and The Band (all of them) are just phenominal and one of the groups I would never tire of hearing.

Loggins and Messina are good, some of the other oldies I like are Cream, Yardbirds, The Animals, to name a few. I also like old country, Merele, Hank, Johnny, Waylon, Willie and Ann Murray. I like songs that tell a story and all these do a great job of it.
What I listen to the majority of time is Led Zepplin, Stones, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, George Clinton, Drivin' and Cryin' (Kevin Kinney) and more than I can think of ATM.

All good music.

I'll be honest though, it was redbones new avatar that got me to click on this thread.

There is still some good rock being made. Foo fighters, arctic monkeys. And jack white, who is an amazing musician and writer. I'm sure I've missed plenty of current rock bands, but these were at the top of my list. No electronic ********, no sampling. Stuff that a group can play on a stage without computers or turntables to cover their lack of talent.
Did I mention jack white......

Jack came out with "lazaretto" not too long ago. Selling it on vinyl. But not just a regular 33 1/3 record, it also uses 45rpm, plays from the center of the record outwards, has holograms that show an angel floating above the playing record, and some other lp firsts.
