Anyone have one that can give me feedback? I rode with a guy yesterday and he had one called a "scallop". He says it works great and can even answer his phone (it works off Bluetooth). It would make it a lot easier to talk to the wife while riding. Would be cool to be able to get calls and connect with other guys im riding with too. Thanks, Ed

I have been using the Chatterbox XBi2 for several months with good results. I mainly use it to listen to Music via bluetooth, but the phone function works very well. The person on the other side can't even tell I am on the bike a 75 mph!
I would highly recommend it.

It does help to have a quite helmet as well, at least after 50 mph or so.

Probably a Scala. Google "Scala intercom" and there will be tons of info.

I know you stated "intercom", but for my birthday, my wife bought me a leash--Scala-Rider's "FM". It does everything but the ability to connect to another unit on a rider. It streams voice calls, music, and gps via Bluetooth; and provides an FM tuner. Didn't think the FM novelty was anything special until it saved me a couple times from getting stuck in traffic with the local station's traffic reports. In hindsight, I'dve preferred the next model up that allows two-way conversations. Just my two cents.

{edit} if you had a short-band that could stream Bluetooth, you could prolly keep tabs of the fuzz as well, mr "Hello there, Officer..!" winner. hehehehehehehe

There are some people in my club that use the Scala with blue tooth capabilities and they love them. Any smart phone or phone with blue tooth can connect with it and they are made to fit well enough that you can wear a helmet comfortably over them. I personally am not a fan I like to hear whats going on around me and if Im pumping music through my helmet I tend to loose focus on things like horns and sirens. Plus I ride to escape phone calls. Just my opinion though.

+1 a113ycat! i forgot to charge my scala a few weeks. i had forgotten how "tranquil" it is out on the road with nothing but the wind and the hypnotic road hum. i am more relaxed now after a ride now that i no longer play music. I still keep it for those rare phone calls from my girls.

Wow!! I never even thought of that!! LOL!! but
I agree with you guys about music when riding though, I like hearing the bike but sometimes I do take my disc-man and like to crank it up when I'm out rallying on back roads at night. My iPhone doesnt get near loud enough with my Kerker. I just hope I can hear her talking with it. Is there one earpiece like my jabra stone headset or what kind of headset does that scala have?

I run a J&M audio Integrator. It can do "leashed" intercom, will amplify any thing you can dump into an 1/8' stereo jack, has separate inputs for helmet speakers, mp3's, phones and radar detectors or GPS. It priortizes the inputs, music being the last and radar being the first.

The helmet headset is separate and the lower priced one is not bad at all. Audio quality with the voice activated microphones is fantastic, the speakers are a little subjective to judge sinces it's used on a really loud ass bike. Installation of these is possible on just about any helmet with an exacto knife, steady hands and some bravery. The installation ended up looking very clean on mine, you don't cut any material ofrliner, just the inner hard styrofoam by your ears to make pockets for the speakers.

I have never had any problems with it, and mostly use it to jack the volume on my mp3 player up so I can hear it, but originally bought it for riding with my wife...but she talks to much so I told her it was broken:rofl_200:

I don't think it will do bluetooth.

The main box is supposed to clip on your belt, but it's bulky enough it's really better to put it in a tank bag.....about the size of 4 packs of cigs stacked 2 X 2.

It will run all day long on a set of batteries, or you can buy the rechargable battery for it...$$$

...what kind of headset does that scala have?

Thanks for the input guys, I'll have to do some research now and see what I find. I'll keep ya posted what I decide. Thanks, Ed
