My plug has the set screw embedded, which I thought made it a magnetic plug.

However, my recent oil change had no particulate matter on the plug, and it was not magnetic at all with any ferrous metal.

Can they lose their magnetic property over time? (Would that be degaussing for the Navy-types out there?)

What's the consensus for a good source and/or part number for a magnetic oil drain plug?

Thanks.

Exactrep, Otec has it.

I have used magnetic drain plugs on the engine, middle drive and final drive on my XS1100 for 45 years and they have not lost magnetism. They always come out with a bit of sludge. There are loads of 14 x 1.5 magnetic drain plugs on eBay.
