Over the holiday weekend I rode my bike and had a great time! No problems, beautiful weather, and lots of adrenaline rushes. I'm not sure if this is even where I should be posting this. But you don't often see where people take the time to write about the pure fun that this bike is to own and ride. Vmaxes are a breed all their own as well as the people that love this perticular bike so much. It can be finicky and God knows how we've all wrestled with issues with them but with the support found here we can find answers that even ten years ago just wasn't available. So Thanks Buster for your insight to put together such a cool forum that many of us here have made friends and support for our common interest. Yea, there may be faster, more dependable, modern bikes out there but once I pull up to a light and people especially other bikers look and as you can see on their faces the bike absolutely gets respect. Especially with a 4-1 Kerker or comparable exhaust. No other bike I've ever heard sounds as just downright ******* mean. Long live the Vmax Ed:worthy:

I agree:eusa_dance:

In Michigan Sunday and Monday, 87, 3 mph winds, beautiful sky,,,lotsa riding Max, a real beautiful experience.

As for Max, my 05 is still the best bike out there as far as I am concerned, for a power cruiser,,all stock, 18,000 miles and no problems at all,,,,runs without missing a lick.:clapping:

O

Enjoyed a good ride with 2Fear and Wildman98 on Sat, spent too much time on the superslab but the 85 to 125mph roll on's are way too addicting!...............................:biglaugh:

yes exactly :clapping:

Despite all the issues, the pain, the sweat and the money spent, I love my bike.
After 2y, I finally reached my goals : riding a F.... bad ass bike noticed everywhere I go or park :punk:
Each time I turn on the switch it's magic and I love it :biglaugh:

I enjoy being different . The Max is my cup of tea . The Harley guys & girls always turn & look at that " Jap piece of crap " when I pull into the local bike hangout . But there is always somebody there that has run with me before and lets 'em know it is not to be trifled with .

I rode my '85 to my sister in law's place on Conesus Lake south of Rochester NY for the long weekend. Beautiful day, perfect ride. And STILL get asked questions about the Max, even after 26 years..... I love this bike.

I had to run into work on Saturday so I rode Redbone since it was going to be a simple fix. I pullued up in front of our hotel and there were two good looking ladies standing by a couple Harley's, so I pull right up in front of them, flip the sidestand down while the two ladies are watching me and smiling. I take off my gloves, turn off Redbone, pull off my helmet thinking they were checking me out. I give them a big smile and a "how ya doing" as I walked to the door. I was feeling all studly so I turn around to see if the ladies were looking my way, but they wer not, they were checking out REDBONE! So ego deflated I go do my work then while I was walking out to leave one of the ladies walks by with thier man, smiles and says "nice bike"!
Well, at least Redbone still has "it"!:biglaugh:

I also love the vmax. It is unlike any bike I've ever ridden. It has attitude and presence. I still have my trusty 33year old xs1100 and I love that bike too. If it wasn't for this forum and the people on it I probably would have given up on the vmax due to some erratic issues I had early on. Sean M baby stepped me through troubleshooting and loaned me parts and Saml01 became a nearby friend who showed me how easy it was to change the front springs and shocks. I can post a question anytime on this forum about anything and have a response within an hour. Thanks guys.

i can't agree more, CustomMax. Every month there is something new to deal with. My last battle with the flywheel by far has to be worst thing that I've every dealt with (and in the end it really wasn't THAT bad), but Oh my Lord, after fixin the notorious starter clutch bolts, getting back on it the next day and running around 100 miles of road after being down for almost 4 weeks was ..... lack of better words .... worth it. I never went out to buy a Max and to be frank, the first time I saw one was when I saw mine nestled in amongst the other cruisers that I was in the market for. But I couldn't keep my eyes, or my ass, off of it. Veteren riders at work made fun of me for buying such a high mileage bike and have told me to sell it after I get my kicks, but you know, every time I get on, it feels like HOME -- it just feels right -- and I don't know if I ever stop getting my kicks out of Maxy-Boy. And after a few weeks of riding with them, the jokes are slowy disappearing, and I see glimpses of --is it envy? -- in there gaze, or is it them dreaming/wondering what it would be like to ride one. Get your own I say to myself!!!! Get your own! **** just the other day, a Hardley pulled up next to me and the effer couldn't keep his eyes off of Max. Guys are always sticking there heads out asking "What is that?" and reveal awe in there expressions when I tell them what's what. Cagers are always staring. I LOVE IT!

I was at the gas station yesterday when a 30ish year old guy walked up to me holding his young son in his arms. He told his son, "now that's what an awesome bike looks like", then he turned to me and stated that he use to own an 02 and how fast it was and how bad he misses it. Then looking at his son, he says to me that he had to sell it when his kid was born to help pay the bills.... "Priorities"....."someday I will get another one"! I just smiled and shook my head in agreement!

You missed your window of opportunity, when she said "nice bike" you should have said "nice ass", and thats when the fight would have started..

Great stories guys...

My favorite comment yet, and seems to be the most common one, is

"What is that? Followed by "How long have they been/or when did they start making that?"

Even if no one ever noticed it I'd still be riding it, it's just too much damn fun!
