So i pull in the clutch put it in first gear (with the kickstand up because i remember going through this before) kick it down into 1st and it dies.
Also remember bypassing the kickstand switch.
I did a change of clutch and brake handles for a fellow vmaxer a while back and the round pin the clutch handle needed drilling further to engage as it did the same thing- pull in the clutch push down to first and die.
All i did after 300 miles today was wipe it down- now it is back.
Any ideas?

are the wires pushed into the clutch switch tabs at the reservoir? Don't ask me how I'd think to check there...

Just to see if it's the controls use an alligator clip to jump(connect) the two to complete the circuit and see if that's your problem, sounds like it could be, electrical is never fun.

I won't and i'll check again-also need to add that these are the adjustable clutch and brake handles that everyone on here orders from ebay --- not the stock ones.
They have worked for me for around 6 months now.

Sorry jdeitz the "I won't" is directed at the previous answer- please don't take offence to that----sheeez it sounded wierd. I appreciate the advice and cannot tell you how much i hate working with electrickle issues.:bang head:
Thanks again I'll let you know.

I doubt it's the levers. It's probably some electrical gremlin.

I meant that when i changed his stock levers to a faux carbon fiber set that i had to drill the cylinder pin further so that the clutch would engage as it had the same problem.
The adjustable pair i have had on for 6 months have worked fine until i just wiped down the bike today- must have unplugged something somewhere?:bang head:

I'm thinking the same thing....I have the same levers. 2 sets and no issues.

Can't understand it-- never had an issue wth the levers and i do not think they are involved. I did the kickstand issue a while back and it is pulled up now-- drop it 1st gear and still kills it. Clutch handle is pulled in too.

None take lol. I knew what you meant. It will end up hopefully being something simple and dumb. That's happened to me a time or two. Let us know what ya find tho!!

Well hell, I forgot to mention as i stated wiping down the bike- I rode it for a few hundred miles and half of it was in POURING RAIN!!!

The 2 wires that plug into the clutch handle were the culprits.
Dried off and little lube and now ready to go---Thanks all.
