Need help with air leak near the cylinder head water jacket joint

So I spilled a little fluid on/around the right side front spark plug hole. I noticed air bubbles so I figured the spark plug was loose. I pulled the boot and lo' and behold I found the cylinder head water jacket joint. Funny looking round brown thing with a pin in it. I don't know for sure if the air was coming out of that or the spark plug hole. I ordered new plugs and will have them in later today. In all my years, I realized I never even changed plugs on my bike.

Has anyone ever had this air "blow by" from either the spark plug or the joint? Is it possible? Fixes? Ideas?

Are you sure it was air bubbles and not coolant boiling from the heat?

In-focus close-up pics of where you're referring to will help.

The spark plug 'tunnels' have drain holes at their bottom on each side of the engine, which should drain any water unless the holes were plugged.

Thank you....Seems it was boiling fluid....The drain holes were plugged. I've had three Maxes and have not had to do much service. One crashed and totaled, the other traded away. Feeling kinda dumb...
