Need UFO 4-2 advice.

Bought a Vmax last week and it has a UFO 4-2 exhaust on it.

It is LOUD! Crazy LOUD! And that's with the smaller ends, can't imagine it with the bigger outlet end caps. Anyway, I need to quiet it down or sell it.

Two questions:

Anyway to tone it down?

How much is it worth, if I go that route?

The way to make it quieter is to take it off. Depending on the condition, it could be sold anywhere from $200-$600, I'd say. Maybe a bit more.

The packing from the factory is not that great. You might want to try getting some good packing & repacking it & see if you can stand it then & go from there.

Slashcuts? Replace the packing with a ceramic type will lower it a bit but will likely still be louder than what you're looking for. I put a set of speak easy in mine as well. Again lowered it a bit but tough to tune as well. I ended up ditching mine.

Do you have slash cut or their megaphones? You can repack or do anything is you have slash cut. The megaphones have the 1 1/2& a2 1/2 end cap.mas Kyle said you can pack them. Stock they have basically steel wool, I bought a thing of packing for under $20, on Dennis Kirk which would be enough for both pipes..

Paul they are loud, I have a 4-1. It's a lot quieter than the slash cut. Get some packing and try re packing them. It's only $20 or so and time if none is available as a local shop. I really like the 4-2 holeshot on the 95 I have. But my 90 with muscle jet kit and the 4-1 will walk away from it fast.

You can always do what I did and put some Holeshot mufflers on the system. Their inlet fits perfectly and you just need to make a pair of small plates to lower the mounting holes for the muffler straps. Works like a charm and sounds great!

I put Holeshot cans on my UFO exhaust and it sounds great and isn't nearly as loud. He sells the mounting straps in two sizes I ordered the longer straps and they bolted right on and fit perfect.
