I mounted my Supertrapp slip-ons and started with 6 discs and had poor performance in the upper band. I moved to 7 it got a little better, the 8, even better. I have run out of discs and will probably order more.

I have noticed that the kick in the ass at 6K is gone. Could the reduced flow on the exhaust cause this?

I have a stock air-box and stock jetting(to my knowledge)

Thanks Tom

V-boost is RPM controlled. off the coil I think. Are you sure it's working---- Werring noise when the key is first turned on. ( not the fuel pump clicking).
Good luck

Ya, the boost still cycles when the key turns on. It worked fine the day before I put the pipes on. I played around while riding today and hed the rpms steady at 5500, then would slowly creep up to 6000+ and would feel a little difference but not the normal feeling.

Also, when I first mounted the pipes with 6 discs there was no boost, 7&8 the same.I am hoping it is just too restrictive and adding more discs will let it breath free-er

I thought more discs means less noise hence MORE restrictive??? :confused2:

Does the start up check mean that it still engages at 6k? I've never looked into this so I don't know if the start up check means that Vboost is working.

I am running Super Trap slip-ons and have had no issues with V-Boost, feels like your arms are coming out of the socket when you hit 6K. I will try to look at mine and see how many discs are in mine.

Agreed!

The Vboost is driven directly off a coil signal.

I agree that the pipes would not affect the function of the vboost. I was wondering if the new pipes have less flow than the stocks and are so restrictive that they don't allow the the increase in fuel that the boost introduces to manifest in hp/torque.

Just a thought, I have had the vboost spit when it cycles on power up, can it become dis-lodged like a carb spitting and coming out of the boot?

This happened the day I mounted the pipes. It has happened at least twice before since last August when I bought the bike, but it never had an effect on the boost operation.

That would be great!

Thanks Tom

I'm getting a set for my bike, and when I was talking to the supertrapp guy he said that between 9 and 12 discs is about right.

The super trapps have nothing to do with the vboost.

Something else is wrong.[/quote

It will just get louder with more discs.Actually I recommend 11 discs per side with the Open end caps. That was my favorite setup.

My Guess with your vboost problem is the controller under the left scoop.Either dirty plug connections or the solder joints on the board for the wires are going bad and need resoldered.I personally have never saw a servo go bad. Might need to pull the carbs and inspect the vboost cables and adjustment real good too.
