OK so with the drama on my 91 forks, I might just upgrade to a 93> newer forks. Theres a fella on here selling his forks, triple tree. Is that all I need? Will the axle slide right in, wheels, calipers, all the same? Thanks guys.

You need different calipers, ones w/100 mm o.c. spacing for the bolts. Other than that, I am pretty-sure that you need the triples, the downtube/slider assy's, complete, & you are good to go. The other stuff swaps.

I did a late model swap on my '92 & that's all I recall I needed. Do yourself a favor & replace your steering head bearings while you are at it. The size is used by many bikes. Put some 'eyebrows' into the steering head neck for the outer race to make it easier to replace them if you have to, in the future. One end comes-out easily, the other is a bitch. Do a 'search' function on the install, lots of info on methods guys used to remove the outer races. The bottom inner I just used a side grinder & then a cold chisel to split it. Take your time, don't rush anything.

I'd keep your old forks and get some Busa calipers off of eBay, I actually swapped to the older forks on mine..

Mine has a newer front end as well, but, why would anyone want the thinner forks on when even Yamaha saw that they needed to be bigger. And the newer calipers alone make the swap worth doing.

For us drag racers the older forks are lighter & the busa brakes stop way better than the new style calipers.

The flip-side of that is the heavier forks are way-out-front where you need some weight to help keep the front end down. Then-again, I am not a drag racer, so whatever makes you feel better about the trip to the lights, do it. I do like cutting some corners and have made VMax mods to that end. With the reputation it has, anyone who can do some respectable cornering on one must be 'really-good!' :biglaugh:
