My max didn't have the breather hoses when I bought it. Is this bad for it?

Tom

If you truly have no crankcase breather, it is bad. The pressure will build up in the engine and expel through one of the gaskets causing oil leaks.

Doh, I just looked up the breather hose in the clymer. I haven't pulled the whole airbox so I may or may not have it.

I was talking about the breather hoses on top of the airbox.

It seems I may not be clear on the concept as I haven't had the whole airbox apart.

Anyway, here's a pic of the top of my airbox, I'm talking about the lack of those 4 hoses.

Put them on!

Your bike will miss and do weird shit at highway speeds without them...:whistlin: They need to be out of the way of rushing wind.:thumbs up:

My buddy found out the hard way when he forgot to put them on...:biglaugh:

You need those otherwise it doesn't run quite right on the top end.

Holy Crap!!!:surprise:

I just though I was nuts. When at highway cruising speed if I closed my legs hard against the airbox cover it felt like it would stumble, bog a little bit. Then when I would open them it would clear up.

Does the clymer show the routing for these and the length?

Thanks so much for the info:thumbs up:

You need to remove air box to see carbs - the air vents are on the carb bodies - tube that is bent 90 degrees facing forward - the hoses attach to the steel pieces on each side of the top of the air box.

Hope this helps explain things

Mike
