Hey guys, rode my vmax about 5 days ago parked it, went out today to put seafoam in tank, used a small funnel that I dropped into tank! Finally fished it out but now when i turn my key on nothing happens at all? Battery connections seem tight, any ideas what happened?? Nothing no nuetral light or anything just dead and the battery is practically brand new! I started moving wires around the battery with the key on for a couple mins but nothing so far...

Have you checked the main fuse?

It's near the battery, see below. If memory serves me well, there is a spare in the block. I'm not sure if a blown main fuse leaves the electrics dead, I'd have to look at the wiring diagram but seems reasonable to me.

If it has blown, don't despair, fuses can fail due to age but if it blows again, you have a fairly major short that needs investigating. Screenshot_20210319-183450.jpg

Just checked and both 30A main fuses look good...

In one way that is good news as it means you don't have a short. Bad news is it may take a while to figure out what is wrong.

Do you have a dvm (digital volt meter), even the cheapest will be good enough, typically less than $10.

Check the battery terminals. If you have jump leads, then connect battery negative to the frame to rule out bad earth connection.

Stating the obvious Is battery fully charged? It may be brand new but u/s if not charged.

It was battery, which is crazy because its a month old Odysesey PC680!!! Its charging now but I tried starting and its still just clicking! Before I replaced the battery I just push started it down my driveway when I wanted to ride, and even then with a **** battery the nuetral light would come on!!! Thanks GF74!!

Check connections to the battery (and ground) and verify your bike is charging the battery. You should be generating AT LEAST 12.5V at idle. Once you go over about 2KRPM you should see in excess of 13.5V (and no more than about 14.5).

Just rode it a couple times and it started back up everytime so Im thinking I just left the key on maybe or one of my kids ran by and turned it or something, guess what desert... today I also fixed that bog I think as well!

You should make sure nothing is pulling on the battery with key off. I added a phone charger that killed my battery a while back. Had to install a relay.
