I hope to make it this year !!!

I wrote the date down. I'll bring my camera. :eusa_dance:

I am planniing on going too. :punk:I will talk to ALMTY (fellow VMF member and vmax rider from my area) to see if he wants to go. I also may bring along my brother if his work schedule allows the time off.
Also, if there are any other that may want to join us in our ride let me know, PM or email. I am tenetively plannig on a route leaving Sault Ste Marie, Michigan and going across the border into Canada, heading E on 17 to Espanola, then S on 6 on Manatoulan Is., take the ferry over to Tobermory , then on to Kincardine. (approx 400 miles and much better senery than going through Michigan, too much city/ boring interstate driving)

Good stuff!!! The more the merrier :punk: This event is a charity event as well with proceeds by donation that will be given to the Kincardine Hospital foundation in the name of the VMOA.

Cheers,
Jim Rodgers

Can I make a suggestion, take a couple of rachet tie straps for the ferry. We went on it last year and all they give you is this really thick rope that is almost impossible to tie.

For me, that would have gave me piece of mind instead of thinking about if I tied them tight enough for the whole trip over.

The other is a velcro strap to lock the front brake if your going to be putting it up on the center stand. In gear is pointless if your tire is off the floor right ? The day we went was windy as hell and the boat was all over the place. The bike was ok but if I was to do it again I'd take them for sure. .02 worth

Hope to see ya there...if ya got one wear your VMF shirt !

Almost forgot : They only have so many spots for bikes - so reserve in advance ! The bike reserves fill up way faster then the cars. Just to give ya a heads up.

Thanks for the advice! I used to live near Seattle and saw the bike being tied down while on the ferry. It would have completely slipped my mind if you hadn't said something. I don't have a tshirt yet but I will place a order soon, woudn't want to be out of fashion!

If you let me know when your arrival time is I might just look at meeting you in Tobermory to "escort" you down to Kincardine. There are a few nice roads on the way down that we could hit. Let me know as I will need to see if we can be back in town in time to start meeting up with folks.

Giving my post a bump to remind folks to start making hotel reservations ASAP. Hotels around here fill up mighty quick that time of year.

I should be ther around 2-3pm -ish kinda depends on the ferry shedule. It should take about 6 hrs to drive the ~390 miles google maps says it is. Planning on a crack of dawn start on Friday 5/30.
Looking forward to the meet!:punk:

Will plan on being there to meet up with you if possible. It is a 1 - 1.5 hr or so ride down to Kincardine from there....... maybe less depending on speed:biglaugh:

Hmm, ferry depart times are 11:10 am and 3:50 pm from South Baymouth. I will shoot for the 11:10 am time and I assume we should be at the ferry 30 min early.
It's gonna make for a long day but looking forward to it.:thumbs up:
UPDATE: Make that min one hour early if you have reservations (yes we will) according to the ferry website. May have to ride down part way on Thursday night, say Blind River or Espanola.

Wow, I thought that they had more departure times than that:hmmm:. May make for a really long day if you do it in one jump. Of course you will be off the Max for the 2 hr. crossing (or however long it takes). With the numbers (>35 bikes) it looks like we may have it will be an awesome time.

Givin' my ride a bump, and I want to remind anyone who is looking to attend that you need to book your hotel room. It is beginning to look like attendance will be around 45-50 Max's this year plus others:punk:. We will be having a VMOA sponsored BBQ Saturday night with awards and prizes to be handed out after dinner. After that we can  and tell lies LOL. Hope to see some of you there!!!

So I go to work today and thinking it's like any other Monday. We are in the middle of upgrading our entire network in preperation for a new slot system. The new slot system is a total remake of all the servers and how we connect to the slot machines on the floor. Our responsibility for the network communications is leaving the server rooms and going out onto the floor. We had a timeline set up that we would be done by May 20th.
Today, while at a working lunch my boss informed us that the whole project has been pushed back by 2 weeks!:surprise: Yup, 2 weeks, leaving the install dates to coincide with my much anticipated trip to Kincardine for this VMOA meet. So while you guys are oogling each others Vmax's I will be installing computers, troubleshooting network problems and learning a new slot management system! ARRRRGGGHHH!:bang head::bang head::bang head: The only hope for me to go now is if there is another delay.....:damn angry:

I am so going to block out time for the drag race in Ohio now!

Damn, that is bad news indeed. The upside is that like all major projects that one will probably be delayed yet again so there is hope.........

All,

Here we are 1 month away from the Spring Ice Breaker and I wanted to give all of you an update on where I am with this event. Currently we have 3 (and a possible 4th) sponsors for our event( VMOA, Cycle One Off, Python Motor sports, and possibly Tennyson's Yamaha) that are providing us with prizes for our give away drawing on Saturday night. I am personally going to sponsor plaques for the following categories:

1) Dirtiest Max (talking cleanliness wise)
2) Most Modified (just so you don't think all that $$$ you spent on mods wasn't noticed )
3) Longest distance ridden to event (In actual km or miles for those from the US)
4) "Hard Luck" (this may or may not be event specific, but may be for last year)
5) Best guest bike, non-Vmax (just so the friends of the VMOA don't feel left out)
6) Best of Event

These awards will be voted on by all attendees by secret ballot all day Saturday....heck even I won't know as my wife will be doing the vote tallying.

Like last year there is no "long" ride planned for the weekend as a lot of folks want to do some sight seeing and time hanging out with each other. Having said this if the group would like to take a tour of the area this can be accommodated, but needs to be discussed Friday night or Saturday morning at breakfast. Breakfast this year will be at the Bruce Bar and Grill, just like the first year, in downtown Kincardine. As I will need to contact them with numbers of attendees please RSVP as soon as you can so I can notify them to be ready. I am planning on having breakfast at 9am Saturday and the BBQ at 5pm Saturday night. The BBQ is sponsored by the VMOA again this year so those who attend we need to send out thanks to the VMOA for providing this for our membership.

Friday night at 6pm we will have our Meet and Greet at the Sutton Park Inn. If you haven't made your hotel reservations please contact them at 519-396-3444 ask for Mike and tell him you are with the VMax group and give the dates. As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to seeing everyone there and until then ride safe and keep the rubber side down.

All,

Today I had a meeting with the local Yamaha dealer about being a sponsor for the Spring Ice Breaker. They have committed to providing:

2 Yamaha Pavilions
a LARGE BBQ
and some give away prizes

Also, during discussions with the owner he recommended an activity that I think you all will enjoy. In conjunction with the Bruce County dept of Tourism he suggested that we do the "Passport to Bruce County" contest. What this consists of is a "Passport" punch card that has to be punched by unique punches around Bruce County. This Passport is part of a larger contest that has drawings for prizes in December. Last years main prize was worth $12,000. On the Passport there are sections marked with a motorcycle that are for a specific prize this year: The Ultimate Motorcyclists Garage. This includes:

A Mac tools tool box
42" Plasma screen TV attached to tool box
Integral stereo system
hydraulic motorcycle lift
4 X Work shop style bar stools

To get entered into the draw for the motorcycle specific prize you have to get all the motorcycle areas on your Passport punched. As this ride is a charity event, for the voluntary $20 donation each person (riders and passengers are eligible) will receive a Passport and the Ride Bruce County map that shows the locations of the areas where the punches are located as well as the roads that are recommended riding. This will be completely voluntary of course, but for those of you who are wanting to go on a longer ride Saturday this will be quite the time. Getting to the areas should be able to be accomplished in 8 hrs of normal riding. If this looks like something you would be interested in please let me know. I am going to have the gentleman that is running this contest attend breakfast with us on Saturday morning to explain the details and to pass out the Passports and maps. Also, the Bruce County Tourism board is going to be setting up at the hotel Saturday to collect your Passports and answer any questions. If you have any questions in the interim please feel free to contact me at any time via email or phone (519-353-3544 home, 519-373-1074 cell).

Jim, this sounds like a good weekend. However things are not looking good for me being there. There is no way I can get this flywheel off!:bang head:
