Maybe Black Ice? :confused2:

Maybe Black Ice? :confused2:

Maybe....or maybe something slippery like spilled diesel...etc...and it looks like the road is damp as well. I dont know. I cant see him hitting the rear brake as he was going around the car.....but something caused the rear end to slide.

Yep...he was very lucky, and thankfully he was wearing his gear.

EDIT....no engine guards either.

You never know the whole story. He might be one of these who ride until the tire is thread bare??? Besides that, it does not sound or look like he would have been on the rear brake. He was obviously speeding and probably just gave it a bit too much as we all have done at one time or another. Luckily for me, it's never quite bitten me that hard, Just enough though to wake me up and get my heart rate going a bit faster. Looks like he wasn't hurt, so that's good.

Looked to me as if he may have goosed it a bit to clear the car, rather than braking. I'm with Mark on this one - looked like slippery asphalt, for some reason. Either ice, or moisture. Maybe as Eric mentioned - spilled fluid.

Chopping the throttle as the back started to slide would definitely make it worse as the weight shifts forward and further unbalance the chassis. Mentally it's hard to do but staying on the gas until the back end hooked up would probably have saved the day.

The First Rain of the year is Very Dangerous here !! All the Salt, oil and Winter dibree is all sitting on top of the pavement,...and when rain hits it, its like Grease !! Like ridding on Ice.

+1 in Los Angeles bikers stay off the roads completely at least the first hour of rain as the oil drains to the curb- i've never seen worse.
