A little late, I know...but I went on that ride, it was pretty cool to see all the bikes and
it was a really nice day for it too, I think Ill be going this year in may.

Friday the 13th ride is pretty good. Just as a heads up though, the original group that has always planned the ride and arranged everything at Port Dover is no longer involved. The city of Port Dover has taken over (hostile take over too from what I heard), so this will be their first one and could be fucked up.

Well, have never been and not too sure I will go this year. Sucks that the city took over the event!! Same thing happened to the Parry Sound Sportbike Rally, now the "Bike Rally", and the event went downhill from there.

Friday the 13th can be an excellent event. It has a scenic location: lakeside, lots of farmland/orchards, the roads are decent if not that twisty, several thousand other bikers and a lot of really interesting/unusual custom jobs. You've got your various bike clubs being represented, lots of vendors, beer tents, live music, decent food in the town restaurants and pubs.

The first couple of times I attended Dover were pretty boring....mostly walking around in 100 degree weather looking for other VMax's. Last year I went to Dover and did my own thing: took in some of the live music acts, visited a beer tent or two, watched some eye candy at the beach, visited the vendors, and saw a lot of nice bikes.

The Bike Rally in Parry Sound isn't that great IMHO.

Till I get an "Enhanced License" or a passport, my Dover days are over. Too bad, I'd kinda like to get to know the honey in the pics I posted a bit better....

Keep in mind that any motorcycle event, repeated often enough, is bound to become boring after a while. Dover is no exception. For example, every relative that visits from the East Coast asks me to take them to Niagara Falls. Now the Falls is a nice place but after 10-plus visits its really boring. You only get a certain number of days off each year to ride so unless you have some honey tucked away somewhere special, why keep riding to the same places annually?

BTW, I got my passport in 3 weeks...Bill, you can still see that honey in Dover if you want!
