I'm thinking about taking my 18 to a track day and seeing what it has. But I've never been to one, so I thought I'd see what advice some of the veterans on here have to say, or share any advice. I haven't looked for anything yet, but in the near future I'd like to take it. This way I can avoid going to jail, and the expensive fines and insurance rate hike. Not really a drag strip, but a full blown race track.

I want to do a track day too, sounds like a blast. I have to do the Gen 1 suspension upgrades, frame braces, ect., first. Its a bit wobbly when I get agressive in the turns. Heres a video with some tips and what to expect if you go.

Thanks for the vid.
The squishy suspension on the gen 1 gets a little uneasy at times. I've had mine wobble from the inside to the outside of a few corners.

Yep, i got the high speed straight line tank slapper under control. This kinda feels like goin over whoops in the ass end. Not good. Hopefully get shocks, springs, mounts, etc this winter. Wheels too $$$. Even thought about getting a sport bike for a dedicated track day ride but really want a Gen 2.

That's what mine started doing after I put progressive springs in the front. I was gonna do rears but decided to sell it, and bought a gen 2 instead.

I know several people who have done track days on a Gen 2. It can be fun but the Max is a big beast to be tossing around all day.

As you already know though it is an amazingly capable bike for it's size.

Here is a video an old friend made when he did at track day in Texas. Unfortunately he had a bad camera mount so it's a bit shaky.....the music I could do without also. ;)

He was a bit of a maniac on his Max as you can see by the way he left the sport bikes in his dust.

He ground up and destroyed both footpegs, and wore out a set of tires. Had a lot of fun though I'm sure and definitely earned a lot of respect from the other participants.

Sweet video!!! I would like to work on my skills too, you can never learn too much in that department. I got to spend some time with a motorcycle trainer in fort drum a few years ago, what I learned in those few short hours made me a better rider overall. I'd like to do allot more, but with my work schedule, and my wife's it's just very hard to plan anything. She has a vstar 1100, we would both be doing the training course, either of us has never been to a track day. So it would be a good way to learn, and then practice what we learned on the track. I followed a guy in the mountains once, I don't think he liked me doing that. He was on a v twin doing pretty good, but I was with him every step of the way until he passed a car, I don't like riding like that. I'll be stupid, but when nobody else around, or on a multiple lane road. Ran a mustang today riding to work with the wife, wasn't even a challenge lol. Never left 5th gear, just kept twisting the throttle. I let him get beside me about the driver door, and I let him have it. I sped up and matched his speed, then I gave it a little more, and a little more lol. Then I slowed down to let the wife catch up, plus it was turning into an on ramp for the interstate.
