I recently bought a 01 Vmax and shortly after I found the V-Boost cable between the servo and butterfly assembly was snapped. I ordered the cable and replaced it no problem. Since I had the carbs off, I halved the assembly and cleaned the PAJs, idle jets, and the jet assembly in the float bowls. I got everything back together (defiantly tigher clearances than other bikes I've had) with no major problems.

I had a little difficulty getting it started again but one I did, the bike would only idle at 3000rpm. I checked the cable assembly and there was still lack in the throttle cables. I am not sure what the issue is, is this a carb sync issue?

That usually means pilot jets are clogged, but you said you cleaned them. Did you resync the carbs? A bad sync can make some really unfortunate stuff happen. Does it drop back slowly if you rev it?

Sorry I didn't read the last little bit. It could very well be a sync issue. There are lots of Maryland guys that could help you if you need access to a sync tool.

I went back and adjusted a few of the sync screws and was able to calm the idle down. So it is obviously a sync issue. I have a Motion Pro Sync Pro tool that I got from the old owner but the fluid is missing. I will look to refill it and set the carbs properly. Thanks!

use ATF as a refill for your Motion Pro, it's bright red and won't damage your motor if it gets sucked in.

Your issue is defo sync - whenever you take the carbs apart they must be re-synced.

IMHO.. I'd be careful using something that was not designed for your Motion Pro. My MP has a polycarbonate reservoir system and rubber gaskets.. Don’t know how the ATF will react with these. 9 out of 10 MP sold, has low fluid in them. I was quite please to find my local MC shop, not only sold the MP, but the refill bottles also.
