Hi Guys,
To protect my beloved bike from thieves I developed a vehicle alarm system running from your own smart phone (Android).

With this system you can:
1. lock your bike - and get alerts when someone tries to move or shake it
2. locate - see your bike's location on a map
3. track - follow your bike location on a map
4. navigate to your bike's location using "Waze" or any other navigation software installed in your phone
5. Spy - get information on the thief

* you will need to install 2 applications (more info in the starter manual)

neat! i didnt realize until i read the pdf that you had the developed the apps. cool, well done. question, though. i understand that you need two android devices. is this correct? one that is your daily device and one that stays on the bike?

If it uses 2 devices does the 2nd device need to be on, running the app and connected to the internet? If so I believe there would be better systems out there.

I believe that's how most mobile alarm systems that can locate vehicles work (that they communicate with the cellular network).

it's a great idea, dont get me wrong. it's just, i imagine it being difficult keeping the bike device from falling or being thrown off or stolen, let alone properly charged. plus the extra data charges incurred in order to keep the bike device hooked into the network. dont think adi realizes that here in the states, wifi isnt as readily covered, nor that although the phones are relatively cheap and they're a one-time cost, americans pay enormant amounts of recurring fees for cellular connectivity.

regarding the phone attached to the bike - look at this like that: we need a black box with GPS, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and GSM which is also reliable, can hold in any weather, anti dust and that will not consume any energy from our bike's battery.
Most of all it must be very cheap...
I tried building one using arduino kits, Odroid, raspberry pi etc. they are all much more expensive and fragile.

We have tons of used and new cheap android phones. they have all the sensors we need built-in! so why not use them?
If someone can produce a better alternative I'll be glad to help implementing the Agent software on it.

I feel much more secure today when parking my bike anywhere I just press "Lock" knowing someone is watching it :clapping:

This is an excellent idea and I am sure it works quite well.

If I lived in some of the countries I have spent time in I would jump on this in a heart beat, however in the US the cost of an additional line is prohibitive in my opinion. Our cellular prices are ridiculously overpriced when compared with many other regions around the world.

I use a cheap security system, I park my Vmax in my garage at night and when I'm out somewhere, I park it where I can see it.
My "Security System" has been working Reliably for 12 Years now.

I'm a newbie here and just found this post. I think it's an excellent alternative to consider. True the cost of a second line is 3 times my insurance premium but if someone can afford it, at least this app is offered at no cost. App looks useful. I do have a question and an observation.

My observation is that I have used a speedometer app in an old phone. No data connection was necessary. It takes it about 30 seconds to a minute to "connect" but it works.

My question is that if someone can use the GPS this way, why not as a locator? Again, no data services needed.
