Regulator swap

I know I read on here somewhere that the regulator on 99 and up models is better than the older ones. I have a 91 and wondered if I found a 99 or newer regulator, will it plug right in, or does it need modifying or will it work at all? Thanks.

We sell them new aftermarket for $75. They are a direct plug in (just like the 99's) and only require adding a ground wire from the chassis to the ground wire that will now be attached to the regulator (the old unit grounds through the body of the unit).
