Hi, my 1998 vmax is leaking oil from the top of this engine case cover. The previous owner replaced the stator but did not seal it properly and it’s leaking. I’m assuming I won’t need a new stator however how can I just pull this gasket off to reseal? I bought many parts but still wondering what’s needed. Does the middle gear cover need to come off?

It is wY easier if you pull the middle gear cover but it can be done without it. Do not try and get by without using a gasket it will bind with just sealer.
Hi thank you, I was mainly wondering process? Is it as simple as just undoing the bolts (#4) all around the cover and pulling off then placing new gasket? or is it more involved than that. I looked in the manual and couldnt find anything

Basically that simple but your starter gears will mist likely fall out when you pull off the cover. Also make sure you put sealer around the pick up coil and stator cover rubbers that come out of the stator cover

You already post one. You can do it, just take care of properly tightening bolts. I reaped mine, because it "waved" somehow. Gasket is thin and big.
