I finally got my vmax running today sort of. The left front cylinder and left rear cylinder are not firing. There is no spark. The plugs are new. The entire bike was disassembled for repainting including wiring. I am not sure what would cause this or how to start diagnosing it. Thanks for any help.

I would have thought trash in the carbs but you mentioned no spark....:ummm:

I'd start at the cdi connections, then the coils. clean & tight? Just my 2cents.

I am not sure what the problem was but after disconnecting and reconnecting the plug wires at the coils I now have spark and it is running fine . thank you

The plug wires have to be screwed into the coils just like the plug caps. Most people clip off about a 1/4 inch of the wire just in case there is corrosion in the end of the wire itself. You may have not got them screwed in far enough or non at all in those two positions. The front two are difficult to screw in because of the tight space Yamaha left us. I would check plug caps also while I was into it.
