We had this same type of scam on the Honda V4MB website.

It was always some person who suggested the member to contact his/her friend outside the forum that had the same parts the member was looking for. The scammers would try to get the money and never ship the part.

Please someone act he continue to send me scamming messages. I have used report button. Where is the admin to ban him?

I have been approached 4 times now regarding a larger fuel tank for a gen 2. Same approach as you have mentioned. They know someone with an email. The response is instant. Sometimes with blurry pictures, most time not. Theyknow nothing about the product.

Personally I have posted about being careful to avoid these types of scammers, when someone is looking for a specific part to buy. This includes banning whatever name the poster is using to be on the forum. Unfortunately, they start another account and make the same offer: contact so-and-so at gmail or some other service, they have what you want.

Buy only from well-known members who have been members for years, and who have a history of successful sales. If someone says, "contact [email protected], he has your part," don't!

I wish there was some way to prevent these criminals from joining and trying to scam people, but we do what we can when it's brought to our attention. That's banning the person. People who are more-into I.T. than me know how to access the internet addresses used, and how to compare them to known scammers, same goes for the email addresses.

Be careful in your transactions. We deal with scammers when we find them. If you are approached, report it and they will be banned.

Been There, Done That !
A sad shame .
Saw Red Flags Quickly.
Ended Conversation .
Take care .

If in doubt ask the person to make a video of the part and send to you for viewing with their face showing. If they don't want to do that then there is a reason why.

And please report any messages like that that you receive so they can be checked out. And I'll look to see if any methods I know of could be applied here to help prevent that from happening. Also, get two or more ways of contacting them. Makes it more difficult to scam if you can get in touch with them.

Also, it is best if you decide to buy from someone, it is safer to have a payment method that has a recourse possible. PayPal business, Credit Cards, or a Postal money order. The vemo and PayPal friends and family have no recourse should you pay and receive nothing.

Can't you change the policy that people can only send PM`s after they have made 10 posts or so?

I believe that's the administrator's prerogative. I am not aware that a moderator can do that.

Is there a new one that has not already been taken care of?
