Does anyone have experience with shipping large items overseas? I am trying to get some pricing on shipping a stock exhaust system and the prices are outrageous. I just threw out some guesstimates on the size of the box and the weight.

My rough guess is the box would be 36" x 36" by 20" and weigh in at 35 lbs. I entered that info into the UPS website and it quoted around $700 as the cheapest option to ship to France. I went to the FedEx website and they wouldn't even quote it because the website said the box was too big. I cut the dimensions down a little bit to get a quote and their pricing was pretty much the same.

So, I'm curious if anyone has done this before? If so, I'll take any advice you have. I'm hoping there is a better solution out there. This is ridiculous. I can buy an airplane ticket and deliver it in person for this much money.

yeah, its a lot. I was going to get a pallet of guitar parts and it was like $1000 for China via cargo ship.

yea i ran into the same problem. check usps too.

Talk to Sean, he have much experience.

Shipping to whole europe is preatty the same, also prices.

Sean use to shipp me many diffrent stuff always via USPS Priority Mail International, Typicaly 7 days to deliver.
44 lbs max weight.

Cost of 40lbs package was around 150$. Depends of size of box.

Dont use Expres Mail International or Global Express, its not worth of it.
Priority Mail will suit you very well.

I tried getting a price off the usps site before but didn't have any luck. Just tried again and the price are WAY better than UPS for FedEx. MUCH better.

It's looking like $135 with insurance to either France or Finland. If I did it right. Not too bad I guess. Much better than $700!

If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to hear them.

Thanks.

Trust my experience and pick the USPS priority mail service, theres nothing cheaper.

There're some companies like Polamer or Doma, they can get that package
trough air fraight for half of USPS price to PL but....they claimed 2 weeks to deliver but truly its always about 4 weeks...and for 200% they will charge hudge fees and duties.
Im sure that similar companies works in France.

Had a guy from Italy buy my stock exhaust, off Ebay, four years ago. He punched the button even though the sale stated Continental U. S. only. I was going to let him have it but he didn't care for the 500 buck fee & 6 week delivery. I resold it. Got 9 bucks less than what the Italian bid for it.

Well I shipped a stock muffler to Gunrunner in New Zealand via Canada Post standard and it cost $180 cdn - first time I shipped it 3rd week of October and it got returned to me Nov 11th because the girl at Canada Post fucked up - I reshipped it Novemver 11th and they told me it would take 4-6 weeks to arrive - At the end of November, I tried to track item it I couldn't on their website, so I called and was told that item just left Canada, 19 day to leave Canada - WTF - I was also told that they would not track parcel until 2 months after ship date - not at all what I was told at the post office when I reshipped it - WTF?

It's now December 27th and Matt hasn't received it yet - What a fucking system they have at Canada Post

I did check for other ways to get it there - Fedex $1700 - Purolator - $1200 - Freight forwarder - $250 + customs and some others - all fucking stupid expensive.

Not sure why it's soo expensive to ship this thing, but hopefully it gets there soon.
