Signal Lights

Morning all,

I am hoping for some help with this. I want to change the signal lights on my 04 Max but am having a real hard time finding the small black, bullet style lights I want. I ordered some off of Ebay and they look awesome but they do not fit, came with 2 wire assembly and really small male adapter ends and will not fit the bikes wiring harness as the front is a 3 wire.
Any suggestions as to where I can find some of these turn signals or what other bikes that are compatible with the Vmax wiring harness whose signal lights I can use. Thanks for you your help.

Federal mcy lighting regs call for running lights and turn signal lights in-front, hence, the 3 wires. If you want to use those lights you bought, just temporarily hook 'em up to see which wire is the running light & which is the turn signal fliament. Then use the wire you want, for either running lights or turn signals.

You can run those, but you can run them as turn indicators or you can run them as running lights. you can not run them as both. I have no Idea what type bulb(s) they have, but if they are LEDs, you may have some issues getting them to blink. A VOM for a couple of bucks from Harbor freight will let you find what wire does what- or just strip off the conector and stick the wire in the socket to figure it out. (One wire to ground will never give you a light, another wire to ground will always give you a light (Bike on of course) and one wire to ground will only give you a light when the blinker is on.

Yep, that is one option on how to get them to be running lights and blinkers.

Not sure if this would work for turn signals. Its what I use for my brake light.

As far as the connectors not matching, cut the connectors off the new signals and install new connectors that fit. Napa has a pretty decent selection of bullet connectors.

They are not LED lights. Just regular bulbs. I will just solder on new ends and run them as turn signals I guess. Any other help or ideas please keep them coming. Thanks

It will work for either LED or incandescent lights.

I have the two wire smaller lights on my bike. Turn signals only. No need for running lights

Just bought new signals for mine, wish I would have seen this before I did.. Ohh well I think I'm gonna try the CBR light mod this winter and get led signals for it at the same time... Thanks for the links guys!!
