Just received a reply from the seller...

I'm 6th in line, if nobody else buys it....any bets it doesn't get that far?

I did talk again with the guy that has had one on BO for me for several weeks now, and he assures me they should be in any day...shipping from England (!)....

If and when it ever gets here, I'll happily post a couple pics, and where I ordered it from....

Philthy

You got the luggage rack as well, that probably helps hide the unfinished look around the old reflector location. I have an 07 and am thinking of getting the sissy bar coated black to match my grab bar. Havent' decided, not sure if a black sissy bar would look good.

Lots of great info in this thread. Looks like the HAC is a cheaper alternative to the OEM bar and luggage rack. Are the HAC's still easy to get thru the main HAC website? http://www.hac-products.nl ?

Is the construction and mounting of the HAC pretty secure? Seems like everyone is pretty happy that got them, has anyone got them and not been happy for any reason?

Thanks!

I have 2 stock sissy bars left. You say that they can't get them anymore? What's up with that?

Sean

Also Renntec makes a one piece combo sissy bar/pad and rack. The bar is shorter and the rack is angled like a lot of cruiser racks. Not bad and less expensive and not as noticeable as the OEM.

Does it look like this?

It looks like the HAC is easy on, easy off if you wanted to ride without it.... Is that the same with the renntec?

Also, does anyone have the Haynes manual? It looks like the one they worked on in the manual has the renntec bars.

thnx....

I got a yamaha one from Furbur at Sportmax. He wasn't the easiest guy to get a hold of but once I did it all worked out. He had it powdercoated black for me to match since I have an 06. Looks good for a sissybar imo. Wasn't cheap. $350 if I remeber right but that included the powder coat. He had a few on hand back in July when I got mine. The powder coat added a week to delivery. All in all took about 2 weeks to get.

Sean,
Do you have any of the factory sport racks that
go on the oem sissybar ?
Thanks,
Chris

The Renntec is one piece and bolts on over the rear grab rail. It is pretty easy to take on and off. Relocating the turn signals is the most time consuming part. I relocated my signals to the license bracket to get more room for saddlebags so I don't have to mess with them when adding or removing the rack.

I think the HAC requires you to remove or modify the rear reflector. I have a light in place of the rear reflector so did not want to do that.

Thanks for the info m-cman. How did you mount your directions on the license? Do you have any pics of that? Or did your saddlebags come with specific hardware, like the ones from fatmax?

Check the "Renntec Sportrack with Backrest" thread for more info and pics. No one has Vmax saddlebag mounts except FatMax. I did buy a set of his mounts to modify for saddlebag supports and to see if I could make Givi mounts from them. Haven't got around to doing that yet but do see how they can be modded. Five Star used to have mounts for Givi bags but no longer makes them. Been trying to find a set for a year and no luck.

yea, Unfortunately I was on that thread last night. all the pics were nice and there. now today all pics are gone and whatnot.. tried a few different comps too.

i gotcha on the mounts. It seems a simple L bracket using the same holes as where the license plate actually mounts on could do temporarily if you wanted them there....

There's a few way to mount the signal lights to brake light area, depending on what you want.

One way is to get light (plastic) mini signal lights and drill a hole on each side of the stock brake light and mount them there - I did this on my last max - works great, but I hated the look of the stock tail section so I eventually changed it.

Another way is to get conduit clamps from a hardware store and mount them at the bolts holding the license plate the stock signal lights will fit inside the clamps - not the prettiest, but it works.

Another way is to mod an existing license plate bracket to fit where the stock brake and license plate holder is now - I went this route on my new max - have a look in my garage to see how it looks.

Another way is to have a license plate bracket fabricated and pick a new tail light and fit it up that way.

Another way is to buy saddlebag supports that have signal light relocation built into them - there some on ebay right now in the uk - not cheap
