Speedo whining

Hi all! I have an 85 max and I was wondering if there was a fix or solution for the whining speedo. Thanks.

Try removing and repacking with marine grease. A syringe through the cable port may work too.

It might be the cable whining as well.

I took mine apart and greased the gears with lithium grease and lubed the cable with graphite cable lube.

I like to use something light in the cable. Mine was making a racket. I squirted some penetration fluid into it and the noise stopped. I replaced the cable and greased the drive. The speedo drives are engineered well. Lube and forget.

Thanks for the help and replies. I have a new cable on it and I'll lube it up more along with the speedo and driven gears.
