Great ingeneuity and craftsmanship, an inspired build due to liking the drags. People the world 'round like to go fast in a straight line. Anyone see what it did in the 1/4? I would guess a low 14 or high 13 sec.
I had a R100RT I bought to ride to college on. It had 7K mi on it when I bought it, and I sold it after buying my VMax, which was a year-old & 1.7K mi. The bike had a lot of power for being a stately touring bike. I surprised a lot of Harley guys w/it, got beat by a few, too. The best thing about it was that on the expressway, being behind someone, they would see the fairing shape and would pull to the right thinking it was a cop on a bike, a 'motorman.':biglaugh::clapping: It helped getting thru traffic.
I like the offbeat builds. Other than the turbine bikes, I think the 5 liter V-twin from Australia, by "Lucky" Keizer, from two cylinders off a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, is my favorite 'Wild Thing.' I saw it at Daytona one year, after reading about it in the magazines. It was supercharged w/a big GM Roots-type blower, too. Ready to roll, it weighed considerably less than a VMax. Oh, and don't forget that bottle aft of the build, if the engine needs some 'help' in your (deranged) mind!
The engine uses a handbuilt crankshaft, has 4 valves per cylinder, runs a Rochester carb on a GM 3/71 supercharger. It also includes nitrous with water and glycol cooling. Power output is in the 500 horsepower range though no torque figures are given, those are the numbers I'd like to see! It weighs 330 pounds.
