Hi everyone, first post on this forum. I haven't bought my Max yet, but it's a matter of days....Speaking of which, there's a 1999 model not too far from my place with a Stage 7 kit installed and a 4-1 Hindle exhaust. My question is : how will those mods affect the overall performance of the bike? I've read somewhere that this carb kit can reduce substantially low-end power and torque. And what about driveability issues? I live in Quebec and we do see a lot of cold weather, even in July. I'm just a little worried about how this bike will run when it's cold and damp out there. Thanks for your advices!

I got my 97 with stg 7 last fall (im also in quebec) and it runs strong, no issues in the cold, i was even driving it in nov with mornings around 2degrees. your gonna love the power, i find mine is not lacking at all on the bottom end. I have a 4-1 kerker on it dont think be much diff with your set up.

stage 7 is definitely for the most HP but its a good difference over stock, i think you will like it. with anything that has been modded for performance tho, keep an eye out for abuse like with any bike.

I agree with Garret! Your best bet is to buy a stock tuned bike unless you know the person that did the modding. The reason I say that is because there's a lot of hacks out there. With a keen eye you should be able to tell.

If it acts at all odd or weird walk away...

I'm in Chicoutimi, about 200km from Quebec city. Thanks for your opinions, but in the meantime the owner told me the bike goes into neutral if the engine is revved too high in second gear, and that according to him all Vmax do. Sure.... So I'm looking for another one!

Yep they all do that when something isn't right! WTF? DO NOT BUY THAT ONE!
