My GF went through the MSF beginner course and got her license last week, So for Valentine's Day I got her a starter bike I found on Craigslist.

It was $1350, plus new tires, but it cleaned up pretty good.

very nice, it did clean up well.. how many miles??

it even has a sissybar for when you want to go with her!

Its got 30,300 miles on it, plus the 300 we put on it over the weekend.

It has some minor rash on the right exhaust, and on the front brake reservoir, and the right turn signals work but aren't perfect. But it IS a starter bike so I'm not too worried about it.

Give it a year she'll want to move up.

Great idea, my lady moved up from a Honda Rebel just last week.

Nothing to lose havin her. learn on a chuck it bike.

I told her that if she wore those new tires out without wrecking the bike or herself, then she would be ready to get her 'pretty bike' :clapping:

It was funny when I gave it to her. She called her best friend first thing.

Her: YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT I GOT!

Friend: A ring! YOU GOT A RING!

Her: NO! EVEN BETTER!

:punk:

When she gets used to the power of that 500 you can drill some holes in the muffler to make it faster.

When a chick asks for a ring from me I just tell her to sit next to a telephone for a while and sooner or later she will get a ring.:clapping: Sit long enough you may get more then one

Hatter, you do realize there is only one sure-fired way to slow a Vmax down, don't you? That's to buy your wife (in this case, your GF) her own bike and go riding with her. LOL.

Congrats on getting her so involved she wants her own. Hopefully you're the patient type that can stand waiting for her to keep up. It's not much fun watching the Hardley D's passing you and you are forced to stay behind for fear of pissing her off.

My wife traded her first 500Kaw whatever for a freagin' Sukuki C90T Boulevard 1500cc montrosity. Couldn't believe she was ready for that big bike within the first 6 months, but, that was over 2 years ago and she's done fine with it.

Congrats.

At least it keep me from getting speeding tickets for a while. :biglaugh:

Or.......it could actually do the opposite. If you ride (slowed) enough with her, then on the occasions when she isn't riding with you, you are much, much more inclined to absolutely hammer down and fly. Thus speeding way more than you would have normally and do it with less mind on your surroundings and more mind on holding the roadway????????? At least that is the way I get my pent up 'Max Attacks' out of my system after a really slow ride.

In fact, I can recall at least two (2) incidents with Smoky at speeds exceeding 135mph.............:rofl_200:
