I bought a set of wheels a while back. They were blue anodized carrozzerias and my bike is red and black. Well to me that just doesn't go together to well. So I deceided to have them chromed. I had to have the tires removed. I went down to Cycle Gear and asked how much to take off the tires and put them on later. If you buy tires they Charge $20 to take off the old and mount the new and balance them. They told me $15 apiece to take off my old ones and $30 to put them back on. $90! The first two words of my reply began with F&Y. I went down to Modesto Yamaha and told them what I was doing and asked how much. They told me when someone bought tires they charged $20 each to mount and balance. They asked if the tires were off . They were. $32 they said. Apiece I asked? No for the two. Balanced? Ya. I went home got the tires, took them back, they took off the tires. I asked how much they needed me to pay. No charge. You can pay when when we put them back on. Maybe not all dealerships are so bad.

there used to be a yamaha dealer in utica ny where my brother and i had a sent of shinko's mounted for his virago. they charged 1/2 hour to remove the old tires, mount and balance the new ones at $60/hr. 6 months later they went under.

i've been lucky to find a new place near me that mounts balances and disgards your tire for $20 a pop. even pressed a bearing in for free. they don't do dynamic balancing though, and i don't really care either way.

i would danny, but changing tires is just something i dont' want to do. plus if they scratch my rims THEY pay for it!

with the new place being $20 including disposal thats essentially $15. to pick that up for 400 i wouldn't even out until 27 tire changes later!
