Hi all. I've just ordered my 4-2-1 UFO system to replace my cobras. But before I send it off to be setup I was wondering how to modify the stock box as I'm now pretty skint. Also what's the most cost effective way to match my fuelling to my exhaust? Thanks guys

What is shim the y? Is there any how to guides on this forum? Would just changing the main jets not be sufficient?

Go to the link to Morley's Muscle at the top - everything's explained on his website.

With his jet kit you get everything you need to make sure to get the best tune on the inlet side to match your new exhaust. This is why it's the best and most cost-effective way to go.

If you try just changing the main jets, what will you change them to? And then that may end up being the wrong size, and you'll have to go back, spend more time and $$ getting diferent ones etc.. Sean's done it all too many times, so his kit is top notch and includes everything you could ever need.

Is a Morley kit something that can be installed easily or is it specialist setup?

You need to be able to take your carbs apart, but it's not difficult and comes with instructions. If you have a Clymer or Haynes manual and are handy enough to follow it there's no prob.

If you can change jets, needles and install the airbox lid, you'll have no problem with the install. Several people here are running the kit, so I'm sure if you get hung up, just post and you will have an answer.

Also, if you look here, you will see a lot of people's setups to give you a good baseline to start your tune from.

Here is a shot of mine after the install.

Is anybody running a marks 4-1 exhaust on stock motor around at 4-5000ft and what is your setup. Or if anybody has anything close to give me a place to start when the Morley muscle kit arrives it would help greatly. :confused2:

Sean's kit is the way to go. He has great service and excellent advice to get you started. i previously had a stage 1 dj kit which i was not happy with after i had the bike dyno and it was running very rich.
I'm very happy with the way it's running now. Hole shot 4 into2 exhaust. Sean Morley's flat K&N filter, Mikuni 155 main jets, PAJ 2 177.5 (mikuni) , Stage 7 needle clip 2 1/2 from top, air/fuel screw 3 turns out, slides not drilled, stock springs,
air correctors, stock v-boost. Elevation is 1890 feet.

Pittnathuan you can do what you want but if you talk to Jon Cornell he will tell you to install a stage 7 with your UFO pipe. Jon custom built the UFO pipe for the vmax so im sure he know's what it need's. (I hope its ok to say custom built for the vmax) I installed a 4 into 2 UFO pipe over the winter and took it for a ride without the stage 7 and it was fun but let me tell ya with the stage 7 its a big differance. I was out banging the gear's last night and i hit forth gear just right and the front tire came up about 5 inch's. The stage 7 turned it into a pulling monster. Do yourself a favor and go on UFO's website and look under about and read and look at pic's. Jon Cornell has been drag racing for a long time and he has put alot into the UFO pipe's I trusted him on the stage 7 and i know for a fact that it will turn your max into a pulling monster. Good luck on what ever you do with your max and i hope your max pull's like a monster.

Of course the fact that he hates Sean with a passion, wouldn't have anything to do with it. :rofl_200:
If you want an honest third party advice on the Stg. 7 and Morley's muscle kit, give PCW a call, they've used both on their builds. When I was shopping for a jet kit, It didn't have anything to do with the person, but I went with the Morely kit because, on the dyno charts, you don't loose some of the midrange that you do with the Stg. 7, The power and tq curve is pretty nice.

Strong words KJ.

I don't know about strong words.
Price and performance is why I went with the Morley kit.
PCW has installed and dyno'd both the Stg. 7 and the Morley kit. They have built many a Vmax engine, in various sizes, for people. Therefore I would think that they are qualified to give an opinion on the two.
Its common knowledge that Jon doesn't like Sean.

PCW is as unbiased as you can get. Our kit has consistently outperformed most of the others and even the flatslide carbs in their testing. I don't normally claim this to be the norm but I do know our kit makes the same peak power with more low and midrange.

This is backed up by more then one person on this list doing their own testing and comparisons (with both kits on their bikes).

If someone wants to install a morley kit im ok with it. All i said was that Jon knows what his pipe need's and he told me to go with a stage 7 and im happy with it. And if a member is running a UFO exhaust you might want to give the builder a chance to tell you his opinion. In fact to tell you the truth im starting to feel like i dont want to give my opinion on this forum anymore for fear KJ the stalker might come get me. We all have opinion's. And price and performance is why i went with stage 7. Kj are you ok to let whatever it is go and let me have my opinion and not make up word's that i never used (balanced).
