I'm sorry Sean, I didn't mean to come across as a jerk. Some of the engravings look like something a 5 year old would have done. I would expect a higher quality from factory Yamaha.
Yea me too, start with the wonderful seat

Sean, did u actually look at the photos ? some of the markings were done with a hand held engraver and not professional at all, except for atachment 7, this was a pro job. The others look like someone went crazy with engraver.

and yes, I do have a turbo Zx-14 and a stocker Suzuki bandit 1200 which was a rescued parts bike and brought back to life. Great work horse bike. I will post pictures tomorrow. Is there anything in particular u would like to see on the turbo bike?

My max has the same type of writing in the same places

The engravings on mine for bearing size and middle gear shims are the same. Done on. the line, by hand as these things are assembled.
On a plus note to me this does indicate that these are hand assembled with some attention to detail/clearances/tolerances.

I have never noticed any markings on or near heads that would be for the heads or valves etc. I had them off on the table when I ported them and never saw any then either.

thanks for the input guys! I was thinking (and hoping) there may have been a bigger story behind the markings.
The good news, after ~3 years of sitting I got her fired up last night. No major motor noise and no leaks. Time to sync up the carbs and see if she'll ppuurr.
